for those of you running rota wheels.

here is a little follow up on the incident at the even.

it think it would be wis to maybe check your wheels for similar flaws those with rota. i don't know if this has been posted before but i thought it is some good info to know.

I wonder if that ever happens to other brands. I know some of the models like the Subzero are used in domestic touring events.

i'm skeptical of the corrosion beneath the powder coating...i'd like to see some pics depicting what they're talking about. So many factors could affect the issue and just because it happened to one wheel doesn't mean they'll all be like that. Chances are the wheel could have gotten through quality control

very true but if it happened to one it is certainly possible it can happen to another.

I agree w/ you in that aspect. I can just see people going nuts thinking all the rims are like that w/o knowing all of the facts because we obviously don't know them all. I would hope the owner has contacted Rota and the situation is being dealt w/ accordingly. Being a Rota wheel owner, it's something I will be looking into...

wow..

Honestly though, I've done some research before and only negative comments I was able to find regarding Rotas is that the finish is a bit subpar.. although i thought it is pretty good.. Other than that, I heard nothing but praises, especially regarding the quality and strength of the wheel.
That's very weird.. could be an isolated incident.. I've seen an ADR wheel shattered in half right down the middle from a curb collision. As well as other brands being prone to things like this.

but Rota is actually known for it's strength and quality.. especially on a budget. This is pretty weird.

i guess a weak rim plus the stress from auto crossing just cauesed the structue of the wheel to fail. i think the wheels got through quality control but reading more about the post the tech guys at the event did find signs of corrotion or something on other peoples rota.
