How hard are you on your auto?......
I notice that my tranny really needs to be warm to do any kind of 3/4-wot runs. If not...it takes 3x as long to make the shift from 1 to 2. I think most of ours do this so I'm not worried.
I do however worry about the long term life of the tranny. For some reason i think Kaleb said they changed a part in the 92+ autos so the are a somewhat more solid. I baby my car most of the time but I do like to get on it every once in a while. I guess I'm just wondering cuz I hear about people like MATT
how sounds like he's quite hard on the car and yet he is well over 100K.

Been through 3 rebuilds.......
after the thrid I toned it done a little, but its so hard not blow down the road at times. but remeber the 92+ trannys were built better like you said, thats probably why Matt can beat up on his tranny more!!!
1 rebuilt so far..
and I have a 93 Max, tranny went out fairly quick at only 86k miles, I'm over 96k now, so far so good, at first i thought it was still bad but the hesitation i am getting is from somewhere else, that can also be a cause for my poor gas milage... I will confess, I did maybe 2-4 neutral drops since my rebuilt, I drive pretty hard half of the time, but it is still in good shape so far..... hope it lasts me a while if I will hold on to the car.
Tranny cooler coming soon!

I'm not to sure of the theory that you guys say that the 92+ tranny's were stronger.I have a 92 and I have had it rebuilt at least 10 times and thats no joke. Now I know that not everyone has gone through the same problems as me but all years are weak. I have had numerous tranny's in the car and not just the one original. I have had 3 seperate tranny's that were rebuilt 3 times or more each. I cant stand thge shi**y tranny's we have but I do love the fact that the engine can take a beating. All I can say is that if you do have a tranny that goes bad make sure you take it to a place with a good warrenty. Expect to take it back in the near future.
I had 150K miles on my stock auto tranny on my 90 SE. I was pretty harsh too. I would street race every weekend, accidentally neutral dropped twice, drag race atleast 2 times a month, hit redline in 1st & 2nd gear 5-6 times a daily, burnouts every once in a while, plus highway racing late at night when the roads are empty. So I guess you couls say that my tranny took a severe beating.. but it never failed on me! 150,000 miles for a stock tranny is pretty good. I got the car when it had only 30,000 miles.

I have my orginal tranny at 120+K and still going. Question tho, I have trouble sometimes putting my car into D from a cold start in the morning. SOmetimes I have to put her in 2nd then pop in D to get it moving. Im thinking its the shift linkage.....any ideas???
Oh yea, its an auto...wishing it was a 5 speed

98K on mine....
once i got the CAI i was harsh on it...10 or more WOT runs a day...bad me...1 accidental neutral drop (adrenaline took over)....and a day at the track...since the track runs i've been babying it
similar symptoms to you mike....very slow 1 to 2 shift when cold...once warmed up it seems to be fine...

140k, still doin fine, not even any slippage, and i dont think the people before me replaced anything. they were nice to it though, but so am i, except when i get excited, or bored like tonight on ym way home, hit 5k from everystop light on the way home, i dont like redlining it all the way unless im racing, 5k is good enough
