Whenever i pass 4000 rpm's on a hard acceleration, i notice that my engine light comes on for a very brief amount of time, but once i get below 4000 rpms it disappears. Also i get almost a grinding noise along with the flashing engine light, what gives?

Anyone have any thoughts?

Pull the code from your ECU. It's probably a misfire.
