The strut inserts of the rear suspension are definitely worn out on my car since all rear passengers complain about the ride. What's the best way to check the FRONT struts? I know 3rd gen's have 4-wheel alignment, but if I only replace the rear do I still need a wheel alignment?

why not replace all 4 struts?
if u replace the rears it's a good idea to get all 4 wheels aligned.
