Looking into buying

Hey guys. I'm new to the group and have a question or two. My current car is a 3000GT as you can see in my sig. I'm looking to sell that and possibly buy a Maxima. My main reasons for this are for the space and decrease cost in maitainence. I know the Max has more room but could you guys give me an honest opinion on reliability and cost of maitainence? Also, what type of 1/4 mile time is a stock '97 max (5 speed) looking at? How does it handle in the snow? Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

Charlie

Well as a new Maxima owner myself, i cannot myself answer reliability concerns or maintenence costs (about 1 month of ownership here) But i can tell you its a great car. I have yet to take my Max to the strip but have seen Stock Max's run high 14's/low 15's with a good driver (Gen 4 95-99) I also cant answer your Snow concerns since i live in sunny *** Florida, but im sure it comes down to the tires, not really the car.

I dunno about that model, but in my past experience with an Eclipse GS-Turbo, and my friends Talon TSi, Mitsu's of those years SUCK as far a reliability. Again, i dunno about yours, but in general, reliability and maintence costs are insane.

Oh, and make sure you get the SE

Great in the snow!!! Im from CO and even though it doesnt snow here anymore it did at one time and when it did, the car was great!

We have a 95 max.......93k on it, and just general maitenence done except for CV joints replaced, teh boots ripped on them and thats it...its a great car.

My 99 se 5spd is DAMN quick, these are fast cars, the 5spd puts about 20 more HP to the ground due to effeciency, and you really feel it. I love the maxima!

My '99 had 2 faulty ignition coils at ~30K. Dealer replaced all 6 under warranty, said it was a $900 job.
