question about cv boots

I've been told that I have to get my cv boots replaced. How important are they and what are the consequences of not replacing them soon?

Thanks!

DO THEM NOW!!!!!! HURRY UP
- if its only the boots! get them replaced ASAP

-with damaged boots your CV joint will be exposed, will dry up and start tearing it self apart. then you will be left with nosiy axles

-both boots on my max are *gone* and the front right makes a lot of noise .. so before your car ends up lik mine get that $hit replaced
