because the dealer has had my car since Dec. 24th. Reason being of the 3rd gear grind and somethings up with the 6th gear. The 6th hear feels as if its rubbing on something going in and out of the gear. Well on the 26th they called me and told me that my clutch was gone also and they recommend me getting a new one. There was no way that they would cover this under my warrenty even tho I have had it more less then a year and less then 12k on it. Called consumer affair and they didnt do ****. What do you guys think I should do about the clutch. If I am going to be buying one Im just gonna buy the clutch disk. Not the Presure plate ($170). So this will only cost me $100. Now they want to keep my car still until Feb. 1st cause they are waiting for some seal on the tranny. They told me the 21st of Feb but he said he will say its an emergency (bs). What would you guys do.

I would immediately call Nissan and keep working my way up the flag pole until I found somebody that was either going fix my car fast, or give me a loaner. I also wouldn't be paying a dime for it either.

 

I took my car in 2 weeks ago with 29,500 miles on it. I just bought the car 2 weeks earlier. I told them there was a burning smell and the clutch was very stiff. They called me later saying that they were going to replace the clutch. They ordered the parts (car goes in Monday for the work). Period, no questions asked at no cost to me. I am also stating to notice a 3rd gear grind and I'm going to bring it to their attention Monday.

I either have unusually good service or......well you get my point.

 

I am supposed to take my car in for the 3rd gear grind as well. They told me it's probably the synchro on 3rd gear that's messed up.They told me they need the car for a full week so they can open up the transmission, order whatever parts are needed and put it back together.

But now I am contemplating since reading your story, I don't want to be without my Max for while, it's been in the shop for a over a week already because of my stolen headlights and hopefully I'm getting it back monday.

Is it true they don't give a loaner for stuff like that?They should at least set us up with a rental.

 

Sorry to hear about all your problems man. When i bought my maxima, i specifically asked if the clutch goes out, will they replace it under warranty. He said Yes. Here's something I wonder...If you have work done to your car, do you have to take it to the same dealer you got it from for it to be covered under warranty?

 

If I were you, I'd take my car to a different dealer for a second opinion. Your clutch should be covered under the basic warranty (36K miles) or the powertrain warranty (60K miles). Any dealer must be able to honor the warranty of the car regardless of where you bought it. I'm having the dim SES light problem with my 2K3 Max. right now and the dealer gave me a voucher to rent a car for free until next week so your dealer should do the same thing for you but make sure you ask about it. They have a reputation of playing dumb.

Sorry to hear about the tranny probs...what about getting the part numbers on the seal and other items they are waiting on and just buying those from DaveB or JRNissanParts and having them overnighted to you quicker?

 

So is there a seal on back order? Is that the problem? I have a appointment next monday for a trany replacement. I don't wanan do this if there are back ordered parts.. BTW sorry to hear about your bad luck, I hait being with out my max, sucks..
