'94 GXE: stuck seatbelt?
'94 GXE: stuck seatbelt?
Greetings,
My sister called me last night to ask me if I knew how to "unstick"
her passenger-side seat belt. My mother was riding with her and
somehow ended up putting the shoulder belt behind her and when she
opened the door, the seat belt jammed or something and now it is stuck
in the "back position" and will not move to the forward position. She
moved the belt some using a tool in the toolkit to turn a gear of
some sort hidden in a lower panel between the two passenger-side
doors (lower door pillar). I did not find anything enlightening in
the service manual, only something about running a diagnostic on the
seat belt system (unhooking the positive battery lead, cranking the
seat belt to its middle position using the aforementioned hidden
crank, and then hooking the battery back up and observing what
happens). There is some sort of "fail-safe" situation where the belt
will get stuck in the rear position but can be cleared simply by
turning the ignition on and off...but that apparently did not solve
the problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

I believe seat belts & their mechanism are warranteed for life under federal law. I could be wrong but check with a dealer for possible free repair
