I searched and searched and.................

Ok... I'm assuming that a few of you seen my last post under the high milage thread. My 91 Max SE 5spd. has 330,000 miles on it. It's been a great car and well maintained. But in the last three months I have lost power and gas milage. I want to put in a turbo engine. Is this possible? I have searched through the threads looking for all the info on this topic and come up incomplete. I would like to know if this is possible. If so, what all do I need. I would also like to know what kind of price I'm looking at. What motor to buy. I already have about 6,000 dollars tied up in my sub-frame and a real heavy duty strut tower brace. I have a CAI also. I beleive with this turbo idea I would need the following: computer flashed, fuel pump, intercooler. But I have no idea what I'm looking for so I have no idea on the cost or where to get it. Please help me for this is not just talk.... if this is possible for a reasonable amount of money.... I'm all over it. I want to have a Maxima like no other around. Plus I am a speed freak. That is why I have decided to go this route. Now all I need is the info to get it done. When I get all the info needed for this project... I would like to do a follow-up with all the prices, pics, and time. Hopefully the info could maybe make it to a sticky. This is the best way that I know of to get a bunch of HP out of a V6. From what I was told... there are only 4 things that make HP: supercharger, turbo, nitrous, and cubic inches.... everything else just frees up what was already there.

Please help me with this project. And when typing this info please go into great detail fore I have never messed with turbos. Thanks to anyone that puts forth effort to help.

*psst* u didn't search well enough.... this thread goes into pretty good detail on how to build a turbo 3rd gen recipe for a turbo 3rd gen

*psst* I searched a lot. That thread is not for my motor. I have a 91 SE 5 spd. which is the VE30DE, I believe.

89-91 SE's have a VG30e motor....if urs is a 91 then it has a vg.....92-94 SE's have the VE....so those instructions will work for ur car

look around some more. look on the firewall of your car also. read the FAQs are the top of this page. if you think you have a VE in a 91, then you have a LOT to learn.

$6000 for what???

I have a CAI also. I beleive with this turbo idea I would need the following: computer flashed, fuel pump, intercooler.
heh...thats not the half of it....don't forget patience, research, a pipe bender or friend at an exhaust shop, pipes(various bends), all tpyes of bull**** hoses and fittings , A LOT of imagination, and a month(or a few months) worth of patience to get everything right!!

So what you guys are trying to say is.... I can follow those instructions to fit my car.... b/c I was reading in that forum and it was confusing near the end about wich motor that was with. Sorry to sound so stupid... I'm trying to learn. I just don't want to go out and buy all this stuff to find out that I bought the wrong one. Thanks again.
