painting body kit
painting body kit
OK i decided to put the kit on my self here when it warms up a little bit. i'm not goint to paint it though, so the question is have it painted after I put it on or can I get it molded how I want it and have it painted before I put it on?
Re: painting body kit
you can do either or, as long as its gets treated with a flex agent. personally when I had mine I painted it before than put it on, than you avoid having to mask off the whole front end of the car.

so if I take kit to a body shop will they probably add the flex agent into the paint or should I have to tell them I want it? or did you just paint it yourself?

if you intend on painting the kit off the car and installing it..adding "flex" to the paint will prevent it from cracking during installation.
if you intend on install the kit and then painting it then flex is not necessary...it wouldn't hurt but it's not mandatory.
flex agent will only last so long then over time it doesn't work. go ahead and take a tap on your kit or your bumper..you'll see the spider web like cracks. paint itself is semi flexable.
don't tell the body shop how to do their job..when you bring it there they will do the job right...if u don't think they will then why even go to them?
if you intend on doing it yourself...then be ready to get all this and then some...
yes the paint will spiderweb if it gets tapped, but usually it wont crack off if it has flex. so if you tend to feel your way into a parking lot spot, best way is flex. and definately paint it off the car this way you dont have to worry about clear peeling off due to paint edges after time. (ps if it has flex you can fit it to the car once its painted as it will flex w/o the paint cracking off if you mess with it too much)
ok here's the situation I'm definatley not going to paint it myself but I wanted to same some money and put it on my self, i was just wondering should I but in on then have a body or paint shop paint it or paint it first? I am kinda leading toward putting it on first unless someone can talk me out of it.
oh and thanks for the help so far I didn't now about the flex

if u put it on not painted it'll cost u more than having them paint and install. masking time is $$. overspray sucks.
do yourself a favor and save up your $ and have the shop paint and install it. you'll be happier in the end.
