Where to buy an inexpensive helmet

Does anyone know of an inexpensive place to purchase Snell rated helmets for drag racing?

I am looking too. They are going to be more diligent in checking them this year as well.

Not sure whether they accept Motorcycle ones either because they have a different designation than the automotive ones. Something to do with the lining.

Snell is for racing and DOT is motorcycle, IIRC

Snell has a designation for all helmets ie motorcycle, snowboards, bicycle, harness racing, skiing, competitive automotive etc.

The Motorcycle ones are designated with a M prefix, ie M95, M2000 those are what I am not sure if they will accept at NHRA tracks.

I have looked up the rules but its not really specific in that area.

Automotive ones are SA95, SA2000 etc. They are the ones with the nomex liner.

Good example they don't specify whether its SA-95 for autos or M-95 for bikes. Just Snell 95 which really doesn't tell you. They even make a 95 Snell Standard bicycle helmet.

It a bike site so you can assume its M-95 though. They really don't go out of their way to tell you though on a lot of sites that aren't vehicle specific.

Do your tracks allow you to use motorcyle helmets? If so I might be able to help you out.

I am using a Nolan Diamond that is Snell 2000 and DOT approved. E-Town & Atco allow me to use it for race days.

All black with tinted plexi.

I emailed the track earlier tonight and asked Synki. I am hoping they do. NHRA rules aren't very specific.

PS Just got an email back and they say Snell 95 or 2000, no other specification so it look like the motorcycle one is ok as well.

Tnx Synki

Jime, I'm glad I can try and help you guys out.

Im not sure what helmets you guys are into but I personally went will a full face helmet. I kinda dig the tinted out visor too. These are some link for motorcycle helmets since they will meet the specs.

Here is a link to Nolan helmets (the same kind I use) --> Nolan

Bell Helmets

Here are some links for discounted helmets:
