Help!Cold idle adjustment?

On a 1987 Maxima does anyone know how to adjust for a cold start? When the car is cold I have to hold the gas down for about 20 seconds for the car to say running, when I release the gas pedal then the idle slowly comes up,any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like your AAC valve is going bad. When cold, its suppose to open up and let extra air in. Unfortunately, when they go bad, they either remain open or close....which in your case is probably closed. I would check it and see what is going on.
