Just bought a 4th gen!

I'll be picking the car up this saturday morning. It was from a Mechanic-shop/auto sales place, so I get a NYS 30day 1k mile 'guarantee'. A little nicer than if it was straight from a private seller. He's also taking the week to fix a ton of little things I pointed out. Weather stripping and fog light are just a few. There were 3 things I noticed that I was concerned about.

1) NO SE RIMS ON AN SE MAXIMA!! I saw the car and it has those 'blade' hubcaps which ticked me off cause I assumed it'd have the the 5 stars. It's got white guages and body color molding. I know its an SE. I have a feeling the rims were taken off at some point in the cars lifetime. This means I'm going to be buying a set of 5th or 4th gen SE stock rims because hubcaps just scream "I SUCK!"

2) Tan interior = tan dash. I was a little upset about that. I think the black interiors are soooo much nicer. Oh well not a big deal or anything.

3) REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY! The ad for the car said it had it, but the seller said it didn't come with the car (obviously, it was from an auction). So i said "ok, go get it for me then" and he said to me that the dealers around him wouldnt sell it to him because of 'competition' and they dont want him to be selling maximas. I hassled him for it and he said 'I'll try to get one of my guys to pick it up, but there is not guarantee'.

If he can't get it for me (if he tried harder, im sure he could), would I be able to pick one up and set it for this car? How much do they cost to buy/configure?

Thanks everyone! You guys are gonna be hearing from me A LOT

p.s. Like stillnmax said, and I hoped...its got A LOT more power than my 3rd gen had. WOW The VQ engine is fun with a 5 speed!!

Only the '97 and up SE's have the 5-spoke rims... Im sure you can go to your local Circuit City, buy an alarm that will actually do something other than worthlessly honk and that will come with a remote.

I know. It's a 97 (4/97 manufactured date). Thats why I'm complaining/wondering where the rims went. Oh well. just another excuse to spend $ on the car and not college!

You can also pickup a remote off Ebay, and just program it yourself...programming it takes no more than 2 minutes, and itll be cheaper with buying the remote off ebay, doing it yourself, instead of taking it to the dealer to get it....

we need more details? what yr, color, 5spd????

OK here you guys go.

1997 SE. Green. Damn straight its a 5 speed!!! 87k miles. Tan cloth interior. 100% working Bose stereo. No ABS (didnt see the light on start-up). Electric seat. No automatic climate control (would have been nice). All in all its a SWEET car for what I paid. I'm real happy. I want to own one of every gen maxima staring with 3, even if im a little behind. 2 down, 2 to go.

A few more things

The car does have a few tiny dings here and there. Mostly on the hood, probably from pebbles. Anyone know of some good stuff to remove dings? Theyre the size of a dime.

Hey buddy - I sell 5th generation 5 spokes (16 inch) for $340/set. They're new car take--offs, so they're still in like-new condition. That price includes the Nissan centercaps as well. Just email me at maximachad@metrocast.net if you want more info. Let me know what state you live in, and I can give you an exact shipping cost. I doesn't cost more than $60 to ship anywhere in the US, so you should be able to get the set and have it shipped to you for under $400.
