Seeing I've worked on a few Mustangs (87 LX 5.0, 90 LX 5.0, 95 GT) it is common knowledge that upgrading to a slightly larger and tuned MAF sensor results in some pretty good gains (10-12 rwhp and similar torque) on a 5.0 and 4.6 motors.

As I was reading thru one of my many SCC mags, I was reading about one of their project JWT SE-Rs. In the article, JWT is using a Mustang MAF sensor. Are most MAFs interchangable? I know the connectors aren't the same, but is the wiring the same? This could possibly be a good upgrade if we could figure out which aftermarket Mustang MAF sensor could work on the VQ (if even possible). I will try to dig up that article.

there is one problem though

The VQ's MAF is a giant 80mm! Also to use a Cobra MAF you'd need to have the ECU reprogrammed. In SCC they used a maxima MAF on their project 200sx se-r and only gained 3hp below 3000rpm and no gains anywhere else. JWT does offer programs for older nissans so they can use the cobra MAF. I don't see how it can gain any performance, if you want to lean or richen the mixture just get a S-AFC.

JWT uses the Cobra MAF on their Sport 450 Package for Z31's.
