I was wondering how much you all pay for insurance and where you live, especially those under 25 and with 2 cars. i know there are many factors in dealing with insurance but i want to get an idea if i am getting ripped off.

so here's me:
state farm
houston, tx
i pay almost $800 every six months. i am 22, single.
if i pick up a second car my total will be $1200 every 6 months. i have decent coverage but not the best.

thanks.
Francis

You poor guys... in Iowa my insurance was $900/YEAR cumulative for a 95 max and 99 max. I am 29 and married. So just stick it out b/c after 25 your rates should plunge

I have been calling around for rates the past few days, and

from what I came up with
I have Allstate pay 983.00 for my Max and 1088.00 for my 97 Ford F-150 Extended Cab. No tickets, or accidents, claims I am 22. And I have my younger brother (19) on my policy as the driver of the truck and I pay 345.16 per month. I have called all around Progressive wants 430.00 a month Geico- 455.00 mnth.. Statefarm - 298.66 month. Metlife 1600-1916 per 6 mnths. depending on credit report. Farmers. wants 288.80 month and 489.70 down but that money down you don't see it unless you plan on being late, or behind, otherwise you don't get it till you cancel. Think of all the ppl they are collecting interest on. And how much that adds up to. $$$ The cheapest I found was Concord for 257.40 a month. I think I am switching over. I live in Austin Tx.

Married, 26, no accidents, perfect record (knock on wood-HARD!)
96 Maxima SE
$335 every 6 months - State Farm
Overland Park, KS (Kansas City)

I got breaks in insurance when I turned 21, 24, got married (two cars), and bought a house (home owners insurance).

location matters

You boys forget that where you live matters. Of course Iowa and Kansas should be cheap. I got a buddy paying $4100 to insure his new 530i in BK, NY. He's estatic about getting such a cheap price.

The least I ever paid was $174 every 6 months in VT--liability, $740 full-coverage. Now I have to pay $620 per year for liability only--not paying for comp and collision on a '97 car, not worth it. Self insure like the big boys. Never had a claim EVER and all that money lines the insurance cos pockets.

20 yrs. old
Maryland
1 accident, 0 tickets
$300/month GEICO

I used to pay only $187 per month when I had my 89' Max. When I was hit by a drunk driver, my 89' was totalled. I had to get another car. GEICO upped my insurance to $300 per month claiming that it was because I bought a newer car. Pure BS.

my insurance

I'm 20 with a clean record. I'm covered under my mom's 20th century insurance in Orange County, Southern California. I pay $600 a year. My mom hasn't been in an accident or had a ticket in the 30 years of her driving, my older sister has a clean record, and so do I.

We get the multi car discount
Home owner's discount
good student gpa discount
alarm discount
etc

so insurance is pretty cheap. My friend who is 3 months younger than me with the same car is paying $2000 a year.

WOW!

Guys I work for an insurance company and I can tell you that you are paying to much Hey..its what you wanted to here, right?
I bought mine through Progressives Preferred program so I wasn't placed in a nonstandard program which will hurt you later on when you try to get insurance from another non-non standard company. Progressive charges me $1000 per year for my 95SE with one speed violation. I $1,000,000 aggregate limits and $500,000/occurance. My company is a standard company and doesn't compete on price, but rather on servie and quality of claims handling. They wanted $1500 for my coverage.
Progressive is OK...but keep in mind that if you switch providers every year that is going to hur tyou down the road when you have a fmaily and look for standard insruance as noone will want you b/c you are obviously price sensative that you will switch over $50. Its strange, and I will admit that...but we love consistency and credit scores ta-boot. If you have great credit and 2 accidents and a speed you are better than the guy with horrible credit and a clean record. This is the way the industry is going so watch out! Ok...don't tell anyone I gave you this info.

Insurance went up $64 a year switching from the Cherokee to the 93 Maxima. Just turned 40 here, single, one car..$616 a year. Getting ready to add a 16 year old son on the policy so let's see it jump thru the roof on that one!
