last night. But I did beat a Civic SI, not like that's much of an achivement, but I didn't go home with all loses, but it was all in fun with some other guys, that are really cool from Austin that have a club Called Extreme Import Racing. The Type R had an exhaust, and other than that it was stock, this thing was quick on the low end, we did a 20 MPH roll, and then one from a stop, both with same results, what do these things normally run? The Type R was a 2001, and the SI was a 2000.

actually it was more like....

the first race we started at a role and i do believe i was at your door the entire way. Yes you won but not by much. The second race was at a stop and we were pretty much even until i blew 4th gear into 100 pieces. The type R has just an AEM cold air intake and puts out 165 hp to the wheels. And that race i do belive he had a couple of car lenths on ya!!!! The tails of the integra look so nice dont they. Now i did get beat by they guy in the white auto. That car is pretty quick! We never really go a good race but if we did i think it would of been just as close.

Type R runs high 14s. Civic Si runs high 15s and low 16s.

Well I guess you are right given that I was giving it half throttle

throughout the whole race. I didn't want to waste my gas. But I guess with your 4 banger you don't have to worry aobut that. ) j/k

But in all truth, I did hit my limiter a couple of times, but other than that, my stock car did ok, but don't worry it will be better. And Sat. will hopefully be better for me, I plan on going to the track later today, and I will learn to feather the clutch and not get so much tire spin, b/c that's where I loose it all.

all in fun.

haha, adam, you suck. hey man, saturday night we will play agian. I think i did real good considering that i love the maximas and they are hella quick. Sunday we are getting together to go and hit some twisties, if ya wanna come just give me a call.
Oh and to clear it up.
Si's run low 15's with a good driver and Type R's run mid 14's with a good driver. Its when you get these kids that go to the track and dont know nothing about lauching, and reaction time is when you get high 15's and low 16's.

I've got a nice race on video from the track last year of me vs a yellow Type R. My mods at the time were a HKS intake and muffler, y-pipe, and B-pipe. The Type R had a AEM intake and Mugen exhaust. I was running on my 17s. We both got crappy 2.4 something 60 foots, but I still managed to pull him thru 1st and halfway thru 2nd. After that he started gaining ground and ended up finishing on my bumper. I ran a 15.1@92 to his 15.3@93. It would have been a much better race if we could have hooked up better and the weather was cooler (85 degrees, high humidity, sunny). I wouldn't race this guy now because he has got a full JUN built topend.

On the street, I've raced a different yellow Type R and got him out of the hole and had about 2 cars on him by 70mph and he wasn't closing in. We did a roll on at 50mph and we couldn't pull from one another all the way to 100mph.

Yes, Type Rs are very capable of running 14.7s in the right hands and on a good track. Just like any other fwd car, you've got to have a great launch to get good ets. At my track, Type Rs run low to mid 15s and Civic Si's run higher 15s/low 16s.

reaction times

Yeah i know reaction times mean nothing with times but i means alot when it come down to the finish line.

Oh, and forgive me for not introducing myself. My name is Eloy and I have a 2000 Civic Si. My mods include a AEM Cold air intake, Dc Sport 4-1 header, and DC Sport Cat back Exhaust. I also have a Percision power 2400 amp, pushing 2 12" kicker comp. VR's. I am a very active member on http://www.clubsi.com I like all kinds of cars but finacial wise is what pushed me to get a civic. I plan on surfing your board and i have already met derrick in Arlington last saturday. I was with the blue si, and the white integra. Both supercharged. My car club Xtreme Import Racing is made up of 18 cars mainly Sis, Integras, and Ex civics. I hope to learn alot about the Nissan community and i hope we have alot of laughs. I think ya'll will like this little honda boi.

That is true reaction times dont mean anything at the track but....My car is not the easiest thing in the world to launch cause if you bog then your screwed and it you get to much you wheels spin forever...Si's with a good driver mid to low 15's...R with a decent driver 14's easily and the thing is I think the new max bonestock 14's right? Didnt look like that lastnight....Cause that R put l e n g t h s on you..It is all in good fun..You should hangout with us saturday I need some cars to whoop on to boost my ego...j\k Nice meeting you guys...Twisties?

Donni-

You must consider the track you are racing on. It is stupid to say that all Type Rs will run 14s stock. The people that are running 14s in stock Type Rs and Maximas are running at sea level tracks and under pretty good conditions. The guy I raced in the ITR at the track has run 14.8s in Nashville, but he could only muster a best of a 15.2 at KCIR. All tracks are different.

If you think launching a Si is hard, try launching a FWD car with some pretty good torque. I find that my buddies 00 Si (AEM intake, Mugen exhaust) is much easier to launch than my Maxima. I can wind his B16 up to around 5000rpm and quickly slip the clutch. Almost with no wheelspin, I'm right near VTEC switch-over and then hit 2nd at 7800 with a little chirp. As for my Maxima, I launch around 2500rpm with a slow clutch release. Usually I get a bit of wheelspin, then start spinning at the top of 1st. When I hit 2nd, it's a crap shoot. Either I'll chirp the tires or I'll spin them deep into 2nd. At the track, I nearly ran into the guard rail because I spun so bad into 2nd (up 6000rpms). How I could loose control of a FWD car and nearly put it into a wall trying to go straight is beyond me.

It was real nice meeting you guys last weekend. Yall had some nice looking rides. I'm going to be in Austin the weekend of Jan. 26th-28th for a wedding so maybe we could hookup and test out each other's cars since we didn't get to last weekend. I'll be at the Holiday Inn on Town Lake. My e-mail is dnmel@airmail.net. What were you final dyno #s after tuning? Later and take care.

I raced a modded Civic Si from a roll...lets just say it was a joke. Ive never raced a ITR, but can whoop a GSR. (My broteher has one). Im sure a lightly modded ITR would be a good race, but a 5 speed Max with a few goodies should win, all other factors being equal. Ive gotta say, I actually enjpoy driving those VTECs. But, Id get sick of revving the living #$%$ out of them every time I go in one.

That being said, I did get royally spanked by a Turbo Civic a while back. 1st and 2nd was door handle to door handle (those cars dont make much boost in the lower gears alot of the time it seems), but when he hit 3rd, I looked down to the pedals to make sure I hadnt just hit the brake

Alamo Dyno Times

Jason with the Blue Si with the white wheels dynoed at 187 whp / 140 lbs torque

Pat with the white GSR dynoes at 205 whp with 158 or so lbs torque.

David with the type R dynoed at 165 whp with 120 or so lbs torque. He gained 5 hp with just and Aem Intake.

Jason and Pat gained an average of 30 whp each just by tuning the cars that day. Lots of smilies for Alamo Motorsports for a job well done.

Good..........

...............to see a regular discussion between oposing car owners. Competition is great when you have Class Act competitors. Let me say that again. I liked the competitive comrodary(sp); restores my faith in humans and HONDAs owners. LOL! j/k guys.
Always liked the TYPE R and the Si Civic with the right owner/driver, can be a blast.
What is the consensus with the Si Club on the upcoming SENTRA SE-R? I am hearing 180hp with a 6spd. HONDA needs a competitor and quick. Even MAZDA is getting into the picture this next season. 3 new lineups. one of them being a 250hp N/A Gennisis ROTORY. and a Lancer/SUBRARU wanna be called the MPS.

SE-R spec V

There is quite abit of discussion on club si about the new se-r. Personally im impressed with the car and if it has what it says it has then im really interested in getting one. 190 hp with 180 lbs torque is not bad for 18K. Thats if the spec V really does price at 18K. The look is nice. I really like the way that they have given the SE-R and the sentra the Maxima look. Its more square and bigger then the pevious models. Here is a link to one of the discussions of the SE-R.

the new sentra sounds cool but i don't know it has potential i am sure it will be probably pretty quick i personally don't like the way it looks in my opinion though. I haven't really read much on those other cars you are talking about that mazda and subaru cars. i think honda does have a competitor with the new se-r though the new rs-x(integra) will be 200 hp. which means if and when the type R comes out it will be around 220 hp or so around there anyway. i personally want the wrx i don't care what other people say about those headlights.

I guess some people don't realize the power of VTEC. VTEC POWER! Seriously, I'm not surprise at all an ITR can beat a 5th gen. Maxima. I think a 5th gen. manual Maxima can give an ITR a good race. Other than that, you are certain to lose to an ITR.

The rate or measure of the rate of motion does not equal the feeling of the action of performance. Simply said; both machines are slow.

Hey Eloy....

What's up dude? I was the Auto max out there Thursday night. Good race. You guys are really cool, and as far as I'm concerned, are totally welcome on this forum. When it comes down to it, it's not about the car, it's about the people. Being into cars like all of us are, we all have the same motivations and desires, so we need to stick together as we can see from this thread. Peace on.

I don't see why it would be such as big deal that I lost, b/c for one

I do suck as 5 spd, but I am working at it and will soon be better, I never knew all you guys were so perfect, and I don't see why those Civic guys make it such a big deal. I posted it on here just as an FYI, I have raced many other cars, such as an M3 on the HW and we never pulled from each other, I also ran with a M5 but did not last long, ran an A4 and took him from a roll, I doubt many Civic's or Type R's could hang with those guys. I always see ppl post about wins, but when we loose you very rarely hear, about that. I like to post wins and losses. I went to the track on Friday and Ran a 15.3 at 91PMH, with a 2.4 60 ft, but at the same time I saw a 99 Mustang non GT run a 15.1, now one could say I would have lost but we all like to believe that we can beat all Mustang non GT's, but much of driving has to do with the driver, and not the car. This post even made it to the Civic board http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/006940.html
I also find it funny that the ppl. that were there that night at the race are not the ones posting and talking trash it is mainly those that were not there and just heard about it.

I am with you man. I usually don't post wins or losses at all, but I do not mind admiting defeat.

I posted a link in the SI forum to this story but I didn't think they would get pissed or something? I just thought you were pretty lucky to get to race an ITR. I always end up racing lame cars.

I think it is possible for a 5spd max with a good driver to beat or hang with an ITR, but for the most part I think the ITR is going to win.

BTW: What have ya been up to Adam? We need to hook up some time or something. Maybe we can race

Yeah I like to post, both, and the guys that raced us were

very cool about running, they have nice cars, not your avg. civics, they had Turbo's and stuff.

So I guess you wanna race the non driving 5spd, so that you can say you beat a 2K? ) lol

I have not been up to much, I went to the track on Fri.
Yeah we need to meet up, Deidrek with the 2K Auto S/C is comming to Austin in a couple of weeks, if you want we can all meet up then, you up for it?

Nah I'm just kidding lol. I'm not really much of a racer anymore. I might even sell my car in a year or two to buy something else

Sounds cool man. If you guy's want to meet up just let me know when and where!

Ohhh......

I see how it is Adam, some old buds show up and you forget about us new buds....ahahahaha...j/k.
Adam...don't ever let anyone say anything to get you down my friend, people always find fault in others instead of looking at themselves first. Those guys were cool and I relate to them just as anyone else. Dman...I was about to get a run in friday when they shut down..my buddy with a mustang was going to let me cut in...but I do have a free pass for next time since I got registered but didn't get a pass in.
