Very bad, yet very good dyno day.

Well I went to dyno on Saturday and got some disturbing news on my first run of the day, I only put down 151HP & 158ft/lbs. I have a 96 SE 5-speed.

My mods are:
stillen intake
stillen y-pipe
1 step colder ngk coppers (for the nitrous)
Stillen adjustable fuel pressure regulator
removed resonator on stock cat back

Acoording to the wideband 02 sensor they had on my car I was runnig extremely rich, to the tune of 10.7:1, and I have no idea why, my regualtor is set for 34psi idle and 44psi WOT, any idea what could be the problem. also the guys thta owned the dyno were doing pulls too and they said they were about 16hp less than usual with their same mods they usually pull with.

Now for the good new, With the mods listed above and the addition of only my NOS nitrous 60 shot I put down 218.4HP & 269ft/lbs. , I thought the torque was just a flash at first but then on the next run I put down almost identical #'s, my air/fuel was dead on perfect at 13.5:1 when I was running the nitrous, the torque was like a wall all the way to redline hardly dropped off at all, I was really excited with these pulls.Well just thought I would share my first dyno experience, I will post my graphs tomorrow.

Colder plugs are the likely explanation for the poor N/A dyno. Others here have seen a drop of 20-30 fwhp/fwtq from 1-step colder plugs. For just a 60-shot, I think you would probably still be okay with the standard heat range plugs, but I'm not sure about that. 100-shot you would definitely want colder plugs.

I was running stock heat range plugs on the 60-shot and had no problems, but I went ahead and got the colder plugs because I will be increasing the shot very soon.

You said you are running a NOS nitrous kit...I'm assuming it's the dry kit? Would you mind posting your dyno sheet? I'm interested because you said the tq was "like a wall all the way to redline". On all the other dry nitrous dyno graphs that I've seen, torque definitely falls. The shape of my nitrous dyno graph resembled a "reversed" supercharger dyno graph...HP was very constant and TQ peaked when I first sprayed and steadliy dropped as the RPMs rose. Now what I really wanna see is a wet nitrous kit dyno graph.

Well after looking at my dyno sheet again, I realized I was reading it wrong and had the curves mixed up, so yeah my torque did peak and slowly fall off and my HP stayed constant the whole wat through.

Here is the link to my graph, it didn't scan to well but it works.

I dyno'd in 3rd gear, I have gone one time since then to see what I put down with the walbro pump on a 85-shot, I put down 245hp & 309tq.
but I was running a horrible 10:1 air/fuel ratio because I didnt have the right jets to get the fuel pressure down, oh well. I am going in about 2 weeks to tune the 100-shot I hope to be around 280hp & 330tq with that shot but we will see.
