5th gen cost

Hello, I was out with the wife this past weekend looking at potentially purchasing a 2003 Maxima SE with Titinum package. After visiting 2 local Nissan dealers I had my eye on a Grey Luster 2003 SE.
There wasn't alot of haggling but it came down to difference of 500$.
They were asking $28,200+_ for the car. Bear in mind this one had the Titanium package which adds 2,000$ to the cost. We decided to hold out and walk away from the deal.
Some questions I have are is this Titanium Package really worth the money. As I understand it you get a Bose Sound system, brushed Aluminum door sills and some other interior appointments. I could not believe that this dealer would not want to unload the car for 500$. There were 2004 Maximas in the show room and in the lot. You would think that with all the 2004's comming in they would be ready to make a deal on the 2003's? I could of picked up another 2003 without the added frills for 26,900$ or so.
Was it wise of me to walk away? I'm figuring that in a few more weeks as more and more 2004 Maximas hit the lots the dealers will be itching to unload there inventories of 2003 Maximas at reduced prices. Even with a 1500$ rebate from Nissan, I still think that if I wait, I can pick this same car up for a couple thousand less than what there asking for now.
BTW, after seeing a fully loaded 2004 Maxima, I was not that impressed. The interior to me seemed cold and uninviting. It was "plasticized" with a spray applied "leather" on the door panels.
The front grill didn't do much for me either and at 35,000$, I would move to a G35 in a heartbeat.
Sould I be holding out for my 2003? Do you all think a month or so from now the price will drop?
Opinions appreciated!
Thanks

there are a lot of posts around about costs... you should read those as well.

you were wise to walk away. If the dealer won't 'deal' then leave and start making phone calls to other dealerships. Titanium Edition isn't worth $2k (IMO) so if it's not something you really want, don't pay for it. You can get the pieces you wanted as options.

Where were you quoted 35K for an 04? I saw them this past weekend here in NJ. I have to agree with you on the interrior. The door panels are very cheesey looking. The rest of the car looks pretty good. The Elite package rocks. But every car I looked at had a sticker price of between 27K and 29K. And those were loaded SL's and SE's at those prices. There was nothing priced over 30 grand on 2004 models.

I ran into a G35 coupe in my gym parking lot yesterday. OMFG it was red with black and a spoiler on the back. It also had the upgraded brakes just like the Z. I'm in love, that car is the hottest thing I've seen on the road in a long time. Infinity has some good deals going right now. I was quoted a 39 month lease for a loaded G35 sedan, 500 down for 389/month. After seeing the coupe version, I'm going to head back to my local Infinity dealer and take that baby for a test ride. If I can land one of those for under 400/month, my 99 SE-L is gone.....

you should be able to pick up a 03 demo for under 20K, as far as the G35 is concerned.. the sedan looks smaller than the maxima, and the coupe, although attractive looks a bit cramped in there.

Thanks for your responces, yes, the 2004 I looked at was the Elite package. 35,000$ do you all think that holding out for another month or two will benifit me? I really liked the 2003 SE. Lot's more power than my current 1999 Max.

if you drive a 99, you should keep it for a couple of more years and get a newer version down the line.

My 1999 would get passed down to my wife who would trade her 2000 Camary. It's sort of awkward in my mind given that there are already 2004's on the lot and 2003's in my mind are a year old already. It was mentioned that I should do a search of this forum regarding prices. What search string sould I input? 2003 se costs?
It seems most of you who responded so far agree with me on holding out. I really want a 2003 SE, but at a better price.

I think everyone here will agree with your decision to hold out on puchasing a 2003. As the 2004's flood the dealer's inventory, you are more likely to get a good deal on a 2K3.
The search function on the .org is only available to donating members, currently. If you are still interested in the Titanium Edition (TE), I suggest that you post a new thread to get opinions on this 'package'. I doubt that it's worth the extra $2000

Good luck.
