Who would you nominate as the M/AMG Maxima??

Who do you think has the comparible M/AMG packaged Maxima. That would be solid power adders, full suspension, brakes, clean and conservative styling and anything else that an M BMW would have, or an AMG Mercedes would have over it's regular counterpart. This is from a (complete) pure performance package standpoint things like neon, stereosystems, air ride sytems, etc. don't get points.

I would say that you would be hard pressed to find any Maxima comparable to a M or AMG. When you mod a Maxima, you lose a lot of the refinement. M and AMG's are engineered from the factory to perform and therefore can be tested and engineered for refinement. Thats what all AMG and M cars are about, stellar performance with refinement and luxury.

Also, there are obvious other differences.

although all the cars mentioned are absolutly amazing, (i love harolds car) you cant compare. you can do all the performance and handling mods in the world, but the over all refinement and build quality will never be the same. and a lot of cars you guys are talking about (hlh, kev, mardi gras) would rip an amg a new you know what, but with those cars its all about refinement and build

I was looking for the Maxima that has been modified completely, suspension, power, looks, brakes etc. I only used M and AMG to signify performance and clean lines ONLY, this I hoped would seperate the usual car that people would nominate with the air ride system big stereo's and neon. I am looking for fully upgraded Maxima's where only it's performance characteristics are considered, not especially that it be comparible to an actual AMG. Thanks for the links, maybe a poll would be a good idea after everyone has gotten a chance to nominate and discuss.

Let myself introduce myself........

I've got a German tag!
I've got German springs!
I've got German wheels!

black SE, German tag, MEVI, JWT ECU, y-pipe, 2k muffler, UDP, H&Rs, AGX/Koni, SFCs, FSTB, ASA LS5 17s with HTR+, lip spoiler, custom 97 chrome/black grill, orange/clear signals, smoked reverse lights, minimal emblems, black/charcoal leather interior

Check out my homepage. German style is what I've always been after. Subtle changes that make a good car spectacular. Chrome Cefiro mirrors are next.

since Dave is nominating, maybe i should too since we have very similar cars/taste. although we arent boosted, i feel the drivability is still very close to stock. the car feels more refined and "locked in" with the mods the car has undergone.

also check out my homepage....

Greenish Blackish SE 5spd, Brembo x-drilled/slotted rotors, goodridge SS lines, B+G/AGX, strut bar, poly bushings, MEVI, JWT ECU, Y, UDP, STS, hand made intake with popcharger, red/smoke tails, I30 interior, 5th gen 17s...

i go for clean lines and smooth taste. i dont want my car to stick out like a sore thumb. i just want to look at my car and think...man that is SMOOTH. i like to drive my car hard, but i also like the refinement that comes with having a sleeper style car.

Pure power...i go with Mardigras, his car is an amazing performner.

Amen to all that. M and AMG varients are about excellent performance in all areas with very little compromise in comfort or reliability. While the turbo Maximas and Matt's beastly SC Maxima are killer straightline performers, the power these cars posess simply overpower the chassis therefore I wouldn't consider them M/AMG style. They're Sleepers for sure, but not a M/AMG style.

IMO, chebosto's maxima would probably be the equivalent of a m/amg version. remember, while M/AMG cars are hot and fast, they are not the "best" BMW, Benz has to offer. outside tunners like Renn Tech would be more of an equivalent to Matt's or Kev's maximas. chebosto's maxima can move in a straight line and we all know what it can do with a hella good driver.

when nissan starts to release Nismo products and Nismo tuned cars, that would be more of an equivalent. kind of like honda's mugen and toyota's TRD.

Maybe you could say my car would be an AMG version due to me having an auto. Supercharger helps out a little, hehe.

Quite honestly, I think this thread is crazy. I can't imagine how anyone can compare our cars to M's or AMG's. Speed, yes, we can do, but in every other aspect these cars fall well short.

I feel sorry for anyone that bought a Maxima thinking it would be just like an M/AMG, 'cause it ain't happening.

However, I feel that theblue is the closest. NA, fast, and now he has those audi headlights, BMW paint job (in progress) and custom body work. Still looks fairly stock...no big wings or anything.

Our suspension will never be M/AMG. The bodies of our cars are light so it causes a very harsh ride when spring/damping rates are upped. My opinion on a M/AMG maxima would be.

H&R Springs
KYB GR-2 Shocks (Ms and AMGs don't have adjustable suspension)
17 inch wheels with sticky tires
HID kit
Quiet exhaust system
Y-Pipe
Hi-Flow Cat
Stock Airbox with K&N Filter
Intake Midpipe
Variable Intake Manifold w/Engine cover
JWT ECU
UDP
FSTB
RSB
Cleared rear lights (NOT ALTEZZAS!)
Projector fog lamps (yellow bulbs inside)
Custom two tone leather interior
Custom carpet floor mats
The car must have auto climate control and heated seats/mirrors
Subtle upgraded sound system (Stock bose may do, no sub woofer, takes up truck space)
Shaved antenna
Custom maxima's chrome interior door handles
Stock gauge cluster with amber back light
If manual tranny: Upgraded clutch and LSD
If Auto Tranny: VB mod, Tranny Cooler, LSD

That is what a AMG/M maxima would mean to me. Subtle mods that make a difference. No drawbacks. I didn't include turbo or SC because of the noise it would introduce. The suspension isn't radical because a stock ride feel should be kept. Stock airbox is retained to keep noise down also.

Again this is not comparing AMG or M to a Maxima, it is only about the changes a similar in house aftermarket company would make to a Maxima to seperate it from regular maxima's.

That would be solid power adders
full suspension upgrade
complete brake upgrade
clean exterior/interior styling that seperates it from a stock Maxima while keeping it clean and retain many of the basic lines of a Max.

The only reason I did not say "what's your favorite maxima" is because I would have gotten responses based soley on looks and bodykits, stereo/media sytems, or show car air ride sytems, that's not what I am looking for. This is only a thread about finding a clean car that has been upgraded completly not neccasarily just straight line performance or big power adders.

If you can keep posting links to your nominations

No 4th gen can be nominated. 4th gens = Minimas. Minimas have noisy creaky cabins. M/AMGs != noisy creaky cabins.

OMFG just throw out names of people who have solid power adders, full suspension, brake upgrades, and clean interior/exterior. Forget that I even mentioned AMG/M it was only an example of what kind of upgrades I was looking for, no stereo's, no air ride, no showy cars, just complete performance.

how about Matt93SE? He's got as much suspension work as I think anyone here does, great brakes, and a few power mods. He's got to be in this discussion somewhere.
