Took out an RSX-S....literally! =(

Just got done filling up at the local gas station at the very end pump. Nobody in front, checked mirrors and nobody behind me so I started pulling out slowly and...

CRUNCH! WTF??!?!?!

A silver RSX Type-S had just magically de-cloaked in front of me.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!

My right front impacted his driver's side door and left-rear quarter panel pretty badly. He seemed to just be passing through the station and had to have been in my blind spot.

Damage on my end wasn't too bad. Just some more scuffed paint on the right front and a cracked right-front "clearance light" that I'll have to replace.

Anyways, I was really apologetic and asked the RSX guy if he was okay. No injuries fortunately. I could tell he was pretty PO'd but he didn't say much. Called my insurance and let them know what happened and that's that.

Glad I didn't get another "new" car after my last one was totalled - times 2. God I hate the DC area.

Who can I order one of those "clearance lights" from? Courtesy or DAVE B? Where's DAVE B at nowadays?

you can get aftermarket but oem replica's for much cheaper... ask cbr2 where to get them, and keep in mind its not a bad idea to replace both as a set as one may have "fogged" or whatever more than the other over time.. they cost almost nothing as the aftermarket ones and look deaed like stock.

I have my oem ones in my closet at my parents house back in maryland. If I was there i'd give em to ya. Sorry bout your accident. Something similar happened to me as well in which I did a lot of damage to the side of this hoopty ride and just minor scratches to my bumper. Goodluck.

Yep, you got to watch out for the cars that can cloak and de-cloak. But anyways, sorry to hear about your car, that sucks.

Damn dude sorry to hear that. At least you hit something that was moving though. While trying to back out of our fellow org. member Pezking's place I ran into a tree( it is a tight fit ok) I creased my drivers side pass. door and caused some damage to the 1/4 panel. A knot on the tree caused almost $500 damage to my car, too bad my deductable is $500, I will be paying all out of pocket to get it fixed...and Les(Pezking) still hasn't cut down that bloody tree yet.

hmmmm, wait.. was he just "passing through" the parking lot? as in trying to get around waiting to turn at a red light? that's illegal... so he shouldn't have been there... so it's HIS fault you hit him....

now, proving that in court would be a completely different matter...

at least it was only cosmetic damage on both ends. coulda been much worse.

Sorry about that

really dorry to hear this ...im figuring the guy was watching you in advanced and staged it all ... another one of those encounters where the driver of the other vehicle is jealous and wishes he had a Maxima. So just as you start to ease out of the pumps ...the guy hits half impulse and whamm !! You said he looked a bit upset ..im thinking it was because he was expecting more damage so he could collect and possible stock pile insurance money for a used maxima ... just my guess ..

Umm...it was definitely well beyond "just cosmetic" on his end.

But yeah...

a) I did check to make sure nobody was coming - he had to have been in my blind spot.
b) He wasn't getting gas at the station.
c) The area he was passing through was *NOT* for pass-throughs, and therefore I wasn't expecting anybody to be coming from that direction in the first place.
d) He may or may not have been trying to bypass a light.

No further comments beyond that pending insurance investigation.

This was off public streets and there were no injuries, so the police didn't come out - they just advised us to swap info and call our insurance companies so that's what we did. So it's all on the insurance companies hands now.

I'm glad that you're ok.
Cars can be fixed.

Anyways, I think in your mind we brainwashed you to take out every honda/acura that you see. Good job. Our plan is working! J/J

Fascinating. I was not aware that Honda Motor Company possessed cloaking technology. Are you positive that the vehicle was an RSX-S and not a Romulan escape pod? Did the owner of the vehicle have pointed ears? If so, it is likely that it was a Romulan spy, perhaps one of many, or maybe part of an invasion force. I will inform the Captain, and recommend that we alter course and return to Earth.

If you can't get the scuff marks out of your corner lamp, let me know. I still have my stock lamps lying around, taking up space. No charge.

D'OH. Sorry Steve I hope the insurance investigation works out better/with more logic than MY last insurance investigation. Summation: "Since you're our client, we're just going to rule against the laws of physics and say you caused the accident, because that way, we'll optimize profits, right?"

Did anything happen to your fog, or were you missing that before? (It doesn't look like it's there in the pic).

Best of luck in getting the sitch resolved. I'm still 'resolving' my similar scenario from late last year where some guy ran an intersection and I lightly rear-ended a grand am that had to slam on their brakes. "Cosmetic damage", sure, but...$300 for her bumper, probably $300 for mine, corner lenses, $92 for a fog light...

that really stinks

but, I think this is a sign that you need to do a RSX-S vs. VQ dyno comparison

DAVE B will tell you that you should have launched better or if you had better tires you would have made it without a scratch

Very simply. Its was a silver car. Silver cars are ALMOST invisible if you are making quick scans. ESPECIALLY if its an overcast day. I have a sterling mist and have almost been hit, passed into, run over about 1 billion times. I will never own a silver car again. Because of this I drive with my light on 24/7 regardless of the light outside.

Someone in an earlier post posted Dave B's phone number but posted it as "South Point Nissan" which is a competing dealer for where he used to work (Maxwell Town North). At any rate, I was just wondering if someone could verify if Dave B got a new job at South Point. I hope he did, he's a good guy.

My 2001 Accord V6 was silver, had the same exact problems as you, ran headlights, even brights 24/7, and I too will NEVER EVER own another silver car again.
