Check Engine Light - 0903, 0705, 0304 - HELP!

Hey guys,

I just was on my way home from getting an alignment done on my car and the check engine light came on. I decided to check it when I got home and I pulled the following codes:

0903 - EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve
0705 - EVAP Control System
0304 - Knock Sensor

I'm sure the knock sensor is related to the other two codes, but I'm not sure what the EVAP System is or what it does. Can someone tell me what to check or what I need to do to fix it? The car seems to be running OK, but the tachometer is "jumping" instead of just moving smoothly like normal, if that makes sense.

Also, right before I pulled in my driveway, the check engine light starting blinking. According to the owners manual, you shouldn't drive over 45mph, or carry heavy loads when that happens, so I'm starting to think this is serious!

Someone please HELP!

Go and look under the rear of your car just to the left of the spare tire well there is a black box there, that is the evap box.. see if there is any physical damage to it, it would be hard to believe that it got caught on anything but thats the evap box.

as for the knock sensor, it just may have been fouled because there is an issue with the evap box..

fyi - blinking check engine light is the bad one.

I just went out and checked the box. Everything looks fine to me. I don't see any type of dents or scratches or anything on it.

same thing happened to me.....

had the same problem like a week or two after i got my max, at the time i didn't know .org so i freaked out, and took it to the stealship, they replaced evap valve that was stuck inside the black box, the part itself was like $78 , but they charged almost 160 for labor !!!!!! , get the valve yourself , lower the box, its held by three screws , change the valve , reset ECU and drink some beer !!!!

So, I reset the light today, and took the car for a spin. The tachometer was acting normally again and the light never came back on. I even checked the codes again and it gave me 0505, no problem detected. For now, I'm gonna hope it doesn't come back on. If it does, then I'm gonna have to look into replacing that valve, but I can't figure out what is wrong with it. It looks fine. I have a feeling the light will come back on though because the tachometer just was doing the jumping thing again a few minutes ago when I ran an errand.

Congratulations I'm glad your car is doing better it sounded like you were really worried about it. My car had a problem with the gas gauge crashing to E then slowly coming back up off and on, that went on for about 2 - 3 weeks. It hasn't happened again in about 3 months and that's why I love this car. It fixes itself
