530,000 miles, I promise!

I understand the skepticism on my Maxima, however I promise that what I have told you is true. I have taken great care of this car. The 530,000 plus miles are real! Let me know what I have to do to dispell any doubt!

I believe but a pic of your odometer would be cool.

actually a pic of the odo. will not really do any good. I can go out there right now and make my odo say 900000 if I wanted too...our odomoters are easy to change. I have taken the whole thing out when swapping gauges and messed with an old one just to see how it can be done.

but with that being said...I believe you. I have 170K on my 98 Jeep Cherokee because all I do is drive for work (had 30K when I got it 3 years ago). highway miles can add up in a hurry.

Miles are miles no matter how you look at it. But I believe it, my mom had a 90 caddy with over 200k on it and for that car it is unheard of without a rebuild, if you take great care of your car high mileage is entirely possible. With the Nissan reputation 250k is average so 500k would be an extreme but possible. IMHO

I need some guidance with posting the VIN #. Is there any chance that posting the VIN # could come back to haunt me with some nightmare fraud? I have no problem posting the VIN #. I just want to make sure it's not a bad idea.

I would have to disagree on one issue...miles are not all equal. Highway miles are not as hard on a car as stop and go city driving.

edit: also, if you want to post your VIN number. Look at all the posts on ebay motors with people are trying to sell their car. Everyone ive seen has their vin number posted. I think the only way you could get in trouble is I've heard some stupid **** people have been able to do with liscense plate #.

Yes but, Miles are miles. And you can't tell me that everyone that says they have a car with "highway miles" only drives on the highway it would be hard to get in and out of the cars zipping down the road.

you are kinda missing the point. I live out in the county in a small city and hardly go to town so I have highways and interstates most of the time...at least 85% of the time but probably more.

I dont know where you live but you may not have experience with driving like I do here in MS where there really is no big city and all the little towns are far apart seperated by interstate and highway.

and I will say again "miles are not miles". My truck has 170K and is like new...everything about it is like new...body, engine and running gear.

anyway its not worth arguing about but I will take a car that has been driven on the highway 85% of the time over a car that is driven in the city 85% of the time with less mileage...so by that I mean "miles are not miles"

fwiw I think age is worse on a car than mileage...jmho.

I forgot to add the whole "traffic" thing. I live near DC and when on the highway stop and go is all it is, but it is still "highway miles" I agree that if you are on the highway and have no traffic it is easier on a car but, people say highway miles and it is kind of a genaric statement. Remember that a car with 170k on it has wear and tear just from moving. Wheels turn the same, all parts of the car have 170k, regardless of where the miles come from.
