Hey Guys,

I have decided to wash and wax my car today after the winter. However, after using the Meguiar's 3-step system, the paint is still very badly oxidized. I can tell this, because certain parts of the car are smoother than others, and those that are not, have a rough gritty feel to them. Also, swirl marks and light scratches are still visible, as well as rain spots. I repeated the process twice, and it did not help. I do not want to have it machine polished anymore, since the shop that I took it to put scratches on the car.

So do you guys know what is the best oxidization remover out there, that will remove the heaviest contamination, and is still clear coat safe? Please help.

 

i havent done it yet but about to after the rain stopes for a few days is Clay Bar.. i am told that its good for removing oxidation, tar bugs and everything. i was going to get this but i havent looked into the brands much yet

I used to have a red bmw that this combined with a good wax (I use 1 Grand Blitz Wax) would make it look like new... Its pretty gentle so I don't think it would bother your clearcoat much... Bear in mind that anything that will take out swirl marks and oxidation will take a small amount of paint (or clear coat) off...

Haven't tried it on the Maxima yet, but will when I get time this summer...

Did you buy the car new/used?

 

Have a professional use a fine cut cleaner and a high speed buffer to cut down to a fresh layer of clear coat.

Then polish and wax it.

 

Get it professionally detailed, should cost you between $100-150 to get the whole car done. My wife's black Altima wsa so badly oxidized it had a hazey look to the finish. After the detailing , it looked like glass.
