symptoms for transmission control module?

for about 3 months my cars been jerking when i put it into Drive
then recently it won't go past 3,500 RPM when i floor it
And my car will not go into reverse, it feels like its in park

is it my Tranny or transmission control module, or shifter?
car has 132k miles on it, and its a 95 auto

how do you check the Transmission control module?

What exactly do you mean when you say it wount go past 3500 RPM's. Does it shift at that point all the time, not letting the engine rev to 6K? Or is your engine not able to go past 3500 RPM's even when the car is in park or neutral? Symptons such as that suggest your MAF sensor is bad. However being you can't get reverse suggests your transmission is gone. If the controller was bad, you'd get a CEL. The tranny controller is in with the ECU.

You may very well have 2 things going on here.

Anyone have any idea what is going on with the car.

This is MY old maxima by the way.
He's put 8k miles on it since I sold it and he's had this slight problem since about 2k - 3k miles ago. Then all of a sudden it stops engaging first gear properly.
I have no experience with the internals of auto trannies so ANY input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Ant

I think you need to get your car to a tranny shop ASAP. Sounds like it's hung up in the high gears and doesn't downshift.
