Just put on new 18" rims

Hey guys,

I just put SSR Integrals on my Max, and gave her a nice wash and wax with the nice weather we had today. Just thought I'd share my enthusiasm with ya.

Keep the stock corners, bro. I wish I still had mine. I only replaced them because they were cracked...

Those wheels look really good on there, too. Nice car!

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate it. I have thought about clear corners, but I personally think they look a little strange on a white car. The orange color of my stock corners is much darker and looks better than in the picture (the flash on my camera made it look lighter). The ride is great -- I feel glued to the ground, although with the terrible roads / potholes here in Mass, it got more harsh. I can live with that though. I think I am gonna paint my calipers, but I haven't decided on a color. I am leaning towards silver or blue, but black and red are options also. If only she were a 5-speed....

mine were red when I got it but I didnt like them so I painted them aluminum (well the back at least havent done the front yet) I like it because it just looks like a clean aluminum caliper. Black is also good because you dont have to worry about cleaning them as much as you do a regular color.

I have clear corners on a white max just like yours, I think its a big improvement but to each his own. Very clean VE!

Man, looks niiiiice! Are those the 18x8? Did you need any spacers? Offset on the rims? Tire width?

Only 16 more till I get to 20 questions!

Looks great man

18x8, I have no spacers in the front, and 6mm spacers in the back. I got just over 8 revolutions of the lug nut (which is enough according to the wheel shop I bought the spacers from). I may move up to 10mm spacers and longer wheel studs if my mechanic thinks its a problem (I'm going to get my brakes done on friday). Offset is +45, so 10mm spacers would be perfect. Tires are 235/40/18.

D-Sta: can you send me a pic of your max with the clears? I actually haven't seen a superwhite Max with clears, at least not that I recall.

Go with silver on the calipers. If you have a sandblaster, get rid of any rust and paint the parts on rotor that the pad does not touch.

I'm getting new front rotors next week, so I may have to hold off on painting them (won't be able to tell where the pad doesn't touch till they are broken in. I do have a wire brush bit for my drill -- I'm gonna use that to clean off the calipers before I paint them.

I have Suspension Techniques springs, and, quite honestly, the drop is a tad too much for my personal taste. Currently, the tires on the 18's are actually slightly in the fender, which I dislike. However, the only spring (that I know of) with a smaller drop are the Eibachs, which I didn't want to get (too harsh). ST springs claim a 1.6" drop, just for reference.

he has ST's so it's roughly a 1.5" drop...

for a comparison i have 18's on a 1.75" drop...check my homepage for pics

Bought them from a guy selling them on the .org . I paid $1000 for rims and tires, and picked them up last weekend (12 hours of driving that day). Rims are in mint condition, and tires have plenty of meat left (though they are loud like alot of people said they would be).

I have 8.5" rims running 225/50s and it's close. I'm getting 225/45s which will help. When I had 18 X 9" rims two years ago they rubbed after I put on the springs in the back. I had to use a 5/8" spacer. I ended up getting longer lugs front and back just because...

They are excellent tires for the price and also because they're Z rated. I had them but I just put on Bridgestone Potenza RE950's and damn they're not Z rated but they grip and give the car a much smoother ride.

Ok here goes,

D-Sta - the tires on my stock rims are Potenza 950's Amazing tire, but cost prohibitive in 18" size.

Chris91SE - Thanks for the pic, I couldn't find a good side view of a superwhite with the clears....I am contemplating it for now, but need to chill on the spending for at least a week.

Crazy4maxima - thanks for the link.

Keep the praise / advice coming
