Power unlock/lock...remote start?

I'm trying to wire in the power door locks and I was wondering if anyone knew if I had to run the wires through the door panel or if I can just tap into it somewhere under the driver side kick panel. I thought I read something about this somewhere but since I can't do a search so I figured I'd ask to confirm. Thanks for the info in advance.

You have to run a wire into the door. Nissan has a computer that translates the 2 wire (lock/unlock) signal into a 1 wire bi-directional signal. The computer is located in the driver's door. That 1 wire communicates to the SECU in the main cabin.

To run the wires into the door, remove the driver's kick panel in the main cabin. On the side wall (near where the door hinges are) is a black sticky-tape pad. Remove it. There are 2 bolts that are holding a bronze bracket. Remove the bolts. Pull the bronze bracket out of the hole (the bracket has 2 relays attached to it). Now you can insert a drill bit through the hole and drill to the outside of the main cabin. Be sure to use rubber grommets, sealant, and epoxy or something like it to seal the exposed metal from rust. Then, just punch a hole into the rubber boot on the driver's door. Use one of the corners to do so. Run your wires through there. Make sure to put your wires into a plastic or rubber protective sheathing and that the sheathing extends from inside the main cabin all the way to the inside of the driver's door. Also, be sure to leave a little extra wire in the space between the driver's door and the main cabin so that the wires don't get pinched when you open and close the door.

As for access inside the driver's door, remove the door trim. Remove the speaker and use the hole for the speaker to grab the wire. The place to tap the signals is located near the bottom of the door in the center. Just to the rear of speaker (if the door was closed). I'm not providing the wire colors due to security reasons, but you can PM for them.

I know it's a pain to do it, but it's the only way. And it also allows the system to utilize the factory alarm as well. They work great together.

For the remote start, you'll need 2 starter relays. Most kits only come with 1, so make sure you have 2. There should be a total of 5 relays. And be sure that you have the DEI 555U kit as well. This satisfies the Nissan key-code security system.
