!! My MAX got Rear Ended, need Advice!!

Guys ... Yesterday was my Birthday ... and on the way to dinner ... guess what?

Some guy in a Honda CRV Rear Ended me at an intersection!!
I was making a Righthand turn on a Red light, and I stopped to check.
When suddenly BAM ... My car was Hit from the Back!

Got all of his Info, but he had to leave. I went to the collision centre with the Friend in my car, and my friends that arrived!

After Filing a report at the collision centre, the estimate damage was $3000!

My rear BUMPER is all scratched up.
There's a 3 Inch cut/slit in the centre (most likely from his Licence Plate)
The lower part of my Trunk lid is also Dented/Bucked.
The Trunk Lid is now slightly lifted, I can fit my fingers in the Gap between the Lid and my car!

Now the Guy offered me to pay Cash! BUT I doubt he will pay me $3000+ in cash!

As well, my friend in the car has whiplash, she's taking One week off work!

This pretty much decides that I have to claim insurace, doesn't it? Cuz she will not be able to get physio unless I claim right?

What's your take on this guys?

Absolutely, get it reported at once. The lawsuits from a whiplash can ruin you. If you didn't have a passenger, you would have more flexibiity. Now, you don't!

Don't mess around with this one. Get it reported...get witnesses...tell your insurance company.

thanks

Happy birthday.

I can give you some information since I work for an automobile insurance company. This is how it works down here. If you get into a car accident, you call the police, the police officer gives you the police report, which you take to the insurance company and they file the claim. At our insurance company we wont file a claim without a police report. (Now im not sure how it works where your located but this is how it works here in Florida) And if someone was injured due to a car accident, thats definitely something that should have been reported. Now as far as the police report, if you didnt get one, it might be too late for you to get one, but hey i could be wrong. But its definitely something you should research on.

A little off topic. My birthday is April 19.

Yes, definately go to insurance and let them handle it. You don't want to go back and forth with this guy.

Thanks!

There was No Cop on the scene because in Toronto ... they won't come unless someone is Injured!

BUT I did take the car to a Collision centre, and filed a report with the Local Police!

They took pictures, and gave me a photocopy of my Signed Report!
