How Bad do you think it will be with Stock Struts if I put on Sprint Springs?

Not bad at all... I plan to use stock struts and MaxSpeed springs.

Re: Re: New Springs Stock Struts

I am planning the Sprint springs with Stock struts. I got them from Southwestautoworks.com. I got them for the group deal price and was very impressed with the service. I went off the recommendation of other org members with the same setup.

You'll be fine. SE's have stronger struts then GXE's and GLE's so if you have and SE the struts will last longer. Sprints and stock struts are acutually not bad at all, ysksesteve has had that setup for quite some time now w/o any problems. He'll post whenever he sees this thread...

That is whose recommendation I went with. Most of our rodes in Dallas are decent. I figure that I will wear them out and should be able to swap the struts out quicker the second time around.

Its not the biggest PITA to do the springs/struts just takes time. 5 bolts for each front and 3 each for the rear. It just compressing the spring (I dont care if any1 sez you dont need it, I like keeping my head on my shoulders) and lining everything up ect... If you have a GLE or GXE id say get the aftermarket struts. The stock 1z are too soft if your not an SE. Steves ride will obviously handel better if he does get better struts so his setup is not really the best so to speak but its very comfterable and sticks pretty well. Note: Be careful goin over those roided out speed humps, I finally scrapped my B-pipe today.

It's obviously better to go with the shocks at the same time because the cost will be the same if you put both on at the same time, otherwise you'll get charged $350+ 2 times.

Not if you do it yourself! (for those of us who are mechanically inclined...)

Wooo, $350. That is pricy.
I installed my H&Rs for about $150. I am running on stock shocks and love the ride. No bouncing and the handles great.

The biggest reason I didn't go with aftermarket shocks on my 2002 SE is because I had Tokico Blues on my 95 Maxima SE and all I felt when I drove the car were blues. I hated them, they weren't good at all. I think they were ok when brand new and but then after some time, the car was bouncing right and left with them.

$350, well not really. In the labor book it quotes the job for all 4 struts at 5.9 hrs. Multiplied by $ per hr and it will be up there. I charge $150 at the place I work at because it takes me about 3hrs give or take a few min (depends really, must take murphys lay into consideration ) Ill charge no more then it takes me to do with suspension, its exaggerated in the labor book for the maxima for some reason.

There is actually a book that states how lond it will take for each car make to do the suspension change?

I thought the shops just make up the figure

DUDE... they have a book that states the standard time... so even if they complete it in a 1/2 hour and the book says 1 hour, they will charge you for 1 hour.

Yeah that's true.

True, your payin for the techs skill and thats it. If they complete the job faster then so be it, they are just that good. btw looks like I severly underestimated the size of the book, its 2900 pages.
