tranny rebuild questions

When I first learned of my bad diffy bearings a long time ago, I found a local tranny shop and got an estimate from them. They claimed they would use all OEM parts... meaning they would get the differential bearings from the local dealership as well as the rebuild kit.

Does Nissan sell a tranny rebuild kit??

Also, are parts like differential bearings, bad gears, or syncros available from Nissan only? At least for the maxima, i mean.

I am curious to know because they quoted me $1300 worst case scenario... and I get 1 year warranty. Now this tranny I have has had bad differential bearings for past 4 months and i've driven it about 10k miles BUT, they claim I could get at least 100k more miles on it after their rebuild.

What does a rebuild usually consist of?

The other option I have is to replace the transmission with one from a junkyard... and there's risks in that too. Well either way, I was just curious to know the stuff I asked before. Thanks

I dont think theres an actual rebuild kit, they just order all the parts needed from teh database then just install it all. I think you can order all the internal parts seperately but I do remember that 2nd gear(?) is casted onto the whole shaft so if that gear is bad then you go to buy the whole thing
