Wide Tires

What is the widest tires i can put on my 16" wheels. THey are on a 2000 GXE. Thanks BTW: It recommends 215/55/16.

Back when I got my tires changed I asked the same question to people at America's Tire Co. They installed 225/50/16's. I've had this set for about a year now.

How wide is that rim? That will dictate a lot as far as what you can safely put on it.
