Just had 30000 mile service done...

and let me tell you, its shouldnt be passed up! Either let the dealer do it, or do it yourself! Its worth it, car runs smoother!

I bought my car into the dealer this morning for the 30k service, the service manager also pulled all the TSB's up for my car and performed the ones that I specified also. The manager let me watch the tech's do the 30k service and fixes. I watched them do:

-21 point inspection (checked if horn worked was one point)
-transmission flush (about 11 quarts) I watched in horror as they pumped out filthy slush box fluid, on a scale of 1-10 10 being the blackest of fluids, it was a 10.5~!! They said "you must drive hard!" I said no comment.
-full synthetic oil change using (AMSOIL 5 quarts)
-coolant flush
-fuel system cleansing, watched them connect hoses to my fuel delivery system and pump foamy crap through, watched as they scrubbed deposits from my Intake Manifold, while it was out....
-spark plug indexing (didnt need new ones yet)
-adjusted my FSTB!!
-brake check
-rotate/mount and balance tires
-check exhaust system

all this for $280.00

Car is much better! Price was worth it.

Glad you had a good experience. Cool about the TSB's too.

My last dealer exp. was really good too. Just have to get lucky I guess.

Is the engine cleaning part of the 30k service? I'm guessing this is Maintenance Schedule 1 (as opposed to 2 and 3)?

watched as they scrubbed deposits from my Intake Manifold, while it was out....
They actually took out your intake manifold as part of the service?

Re: Just had 30000 mile service done...

I'm due for that as well, so here are my thoughts about having it done (versus doing it myself).

-21 point inspection (checked if horn worked was one point)
Wal-Mart ... Included with oil change. And I also check them myself too.

-transmission flush (about 11 quarts) I watched in horror as they pumped out filthy slush box fluid, on a scale of 1-10 10 being the blackest of fluids, it was a 10.5~!! They said "you must drive hard!" I said no comment.
I'll probably have them (or Jiffy Lube do this) unless someone can give me a write-up. Gonna go with either Amsoil or Redline. Still undecided. But I know the tranny needs something soon.

-full synthetic oil change using (AMSOIL 5 quarts)
Wal-Mart ... $30.00 ... Mobil 1 Synthetic

-coolant flush
I can do this... but would like a write-up if someone has it.

-fuel system cleansing, watched them connect hoses to my fuel delivery system and pump foamy crap through, watched as they scrubbed deposits from my Intake Manifold, while it was out....
Probably let the dealer do that one.

-spark plug indexing (didnt need new ones yet)
Don't need them yet!

-adjusted my FSB!!
What adjustments are needed?

-brake check
They still work. I checked them when I had my tires put on.

-rotate/mount and balance tires
Just got new tires, so not needed.

-check exhaust system
No one, I mean, no one, touches my exhaust without my permission. I'm picky like that.

all this for $280.00
Not too bad, but I enjoy doing some of it myself. Wal-Mart is actually only $1.50 more to do the oil change than if I did it myself, so I let them do it while I shop.

Car is much better! Price was worth it.
Awesome. I'll let you know how mine turns out when I do it.

They just removed the FSTB and adjusted it so it didnt hit the intake manifold when the engine torqued. Didnt cost me anything, so I figure let them do it.

The coolant flush was pretty much cut and dry, drain old coolant, put new in with water, pump air bubbles out of radiator.

trans flush, was neat cause it actually pumped all the fluid out rather than just getting 4.5 quarts with just a drain (AT). torque converter is clean!!! no metal shavings also, they removed the plug and just a tiny bits of metal shavings were pumped out.

the intake manifold/TB cleaning was listed as "Top-Induction Service" I didnt think the idle could be any smoother, but it is.

as for checking the exhaust they just listened for noises. they didnt mess with it.

Do you mean the FSTB - Front Strut Tower Bar?

That's a very good service at a very good price.

The dealer here in San Jose wants $399.- for the 30K service. Tranny flush is extra (about $60 or 70). So is manifold cleaning - another $50 or more. You are lucky !

I had my 30K service done last Thursday and my car feels like it's new all over again. They resurfaced my roters as well. I paid $282 but that was with out an oil change and tire rotation and balance. They wanted $371 for the total 30K serice I have lifetime rotation and balancing plus alignment at Firestone I will take the car there when it is time for that. I highly roccomend the 30 K service though!
