auto 95se vs crown victoria

has anyone ever had an encounter with a crown vic? I just did and im kind of confused.. From a rolling start after he gassed it I mashed my foot down and to my surprise I took him, after 1 1/2 car lenghts I let off because the red light was coming and then he turned off... Anyone ever beat one of these guys? I was surprised because of its V8 engine....

I believe if someone gets a police interceptor from an auction then that might keep up with us. almost.

wasnt there a site showing how the police model was slower than the civilian version? I read that like 2 years ago.

Gotta take into consideration that the Police Interceptors are dedent engines, but the cars are heavier because the chassis of the car is beefed up to take all the extra abuse from chases and things like that.....

I hope you werent running away from the cops

I remember seeing an issue of Popular Mechanics a while back with a test run like someone just said of a stock Crown Vic vs. a Police Interceptor. Yes the Police version is slower, although by not much because of the added weight from the suspension, lights, extra oil coolers, equiptment and cage inside. It has a decent V8, stock it runs high 15's...from what I remember maybe even high 16's. Dont get me wrong, Crown Vic's arent turtles but they handle their own weight.

Regardless, a stock VQ vs. any Crown Vic should result in a VQ win.

I have no problem pulling away from the cabbies here in NYC

That's becuase it has the same 4.6L SOHC engine and free flowing true dual exhausts.

something to consider: I heard that the police interceptors have one of the same problem as the pinto. There's a bolt in the rear bumper that will go straight into the gas tank of the car is rearended hard enough. Bolt punctures gas tank, causing spark inside of gas tank, people burn to death.
I realize this is seriously off topic, but thik of it this way: the next time you get beat by a crown vic, ram your car into his from behind (i retyped that sentence 4 times and no matter how i reworded it, it sounded gay) and watch him burn. Then drive away and laugh.

police crown vics are slow. i work at a ford service dept. and i drive them weekly. seeing them up close, those things have several hundered pounds of extra weight added to an already overweight car. they may have a decent top end???... but it will take a while to get there.
