Got a nice little surprise INSIDE my CAI...

so im changing out my starter, and i remove my CAI to get better access to it...i take it out and what do i see...

OIL!! my intake pipes had oil running thru them, not alot, but just sum watery brown gooey stuff sitting along the bottom edges of the pipes...very wierd and is making me very worried..what the hell happened and how did this happen? could my filter be bad? water getting in thru the filter? what possibly could cause this? how bad is this?
car seems to run fine, no problems other than my starter was dead and i just replaced it and car started up perfectly and ran fine too,
im going to take my intake apart this week and clean it all out and clean my K&N or possibly just change it

My PR CAI came with the car...so I don't know what filter it came with. 'Monster filter' isn't K&N right? Guess I'll be buying a K&N soon...

Look if your PCV valve is not clogged.

There's also a vent tube in that area that can spew oily vapors. I forget, but might be from the tranny.

Hmmm, I doubt that the tranny and motor exchange vapors in any way . . . . two isolated components.

if anything i would think its the crankshaft breather hose that is attached to the tube on the intake mid pipe that points to the headlights. Thats where oil would be spitting, but there should never ever be a significant amount in there coming from the crank. If u cant find whats up, get a crankshaft breather filter and put a plug on the intake breather tube.

well it seemed as if the oil was coming from that hose, the crankshaft breather hose, and im guessing there is a breather filter somewhere at the motor end that u said needs to be checked out, ill do that...it wasnt a significant amount, barely just sum spots of it here and there, nuthing really flowing thru, just a thin lil stream

ill clean out my whole intake and clean/oil up my K&N too, check that breather filter and ill also give the PCV a change..see wut happens, thanks for the help
