97-99 GXE/GLE to SE

Hey guys, I am looking hard to find a black on black maxima SE 97-99 and it is very hard to find one priced right with low miles. I do most of my searching on internet and I recently came across this 99 GXE or GLE(not sure which it is) with 60k miles priced at $10888. I saw this car for sale on internet and it seems like the car has a great quality paint and is in good condition. But I would rather get a maxima SE because it has the spoiler, fog lights and the moonroof. so I had a few questions. Is there any other differences between GXE/GLE with SE on the outside? how about features on the inside. Do GXE and GLE have sunroof as well? or some do but not all of em. And if I do get a GXE or GLE, how much is the front SE bumper with fog lights, and how hard would it be to install it and connect the fog lights? Thanks, btw you can see the car here hard to tell if it has the moonroof or not

im not much help but here is what i know or think i know, the se(the one i have) lacks the extra silver/chrome trim around the windows on the door hadles and on the grill. Also the se has slightly stiffer suspension and white gauge faces. these are the only things that only the se have as for the gle and gxe one is the top of the line model and one is the bottom of the line(as far as options go)

good luck

hey! I was just thinking about that chrome/silver trim on door handles and front bumper, I didnt know that SE lacks those. I dont really like the chrome/silver, up to now I thought that people themselves had painted them or changed them lol. another great reason to get SE !!

I just bought my '97 SE 5spd w/100k for 7. although that may seem a bit excessive, the car is in mint condition with everything in it, bose, leather, sunroof, climate control, heated seats, etc. I wouldn't concentrate on the miles so much because these cars do have a tendency to "live." also, it will be difficult to find black on black (trust me, i was looking). I'd recommend looking to make sure it wasn't owned by a teenager and that it was abused, other than that you don't have much to fear. About your questions, as far as I know, On the outside, SE has 16in five star rims, the GXE (plain model) and GLE (luxury model) have worse looking (in my opinion) 15in. rims. Inside the SE is the only one to offer white gauges. I think GLE has standard sunroof and pretty sure it's optional on GXE's. I'm not sure about your other questions, not really interested in that. I think you should go with the SE since most of those options are standard in it, as well as "sport" (firmer) suspention. Another thing is that GLE does not come on stick, if that interests you, hope this helps

thx man, black on black is really hard to find. and yes the rims on GLE and GXE do look ugly ( in our opinion at least) but i dont care about rims at all cuz imma have aftermarket rims on it. and the tranny doesnt really matter, auto is fine, if manual then better. and yes, Im never gonna buy a car from a teenager hehe infact im a teenager myself and i abuse my current car everyday too. thx for the info bro !

GLE options

I have a 99 Black/Black GLE. The GLE trim level is a fully loaded car and available in automatic only. The only options I'm aware of for the GLE are fog lamps & wind deflector for the power moon roof. The GLE has a softer ride than the SE.

to find a black on black SE is very hard. Normally people price those higher than the actual value because they know the demand on them are high. If i could go back, knowing how i change everything in my car, i would get a GXE but since you want black on black, it wouldnt look great with chrome trim so SE is like your only option.

One will pop up sooner or later, they always do, just have patience and keep checking. I waited 3-4 weeks to find my car, a 5 speed SE which is fully loaded like a GLE, another rare maxima which i'm happy to have waited for.

thx for letting me know. But finding a Black maxima SE is not the hard part, finding a black on black is. your car is very hot but it doesnt have black leather which is what im looking for and besides, you live in another state and im not interested in paying 700 bux for shipping
but if you lived in same state as me and you had black leather seats, i would make you an offer for, $12,500 +500 or -500 cuz i have not seen the car in "real life".

I know carnal_30 has a 97 gxe 5sp base that's black exterior and cloth interior. He's converted his GXE into an SE and more. Only thing he's missing is the steering ratio, but I've never heard of anybody swapping that.

Find a GXE...most of the SE stuff you'll be swapping out anyways, except the moonroof. For example: suspension, fogs, spoiler, gauges, stereo, steering wheel, shifter, trunk release (get an alarm to do that), etc.

Good luck finding a black/black SE man. I know it took me quite a while (well, actually just pure luck) to find one. I've just recently become a proud owner of a 97 Black w/black leather SE - fully loaded.

Not 4 sale, but I got a Black/Black 99SE-L (auto, don't ), 129K miles (ouch!), all options minus traction & heated seats...didn't know there was such a demand!

I assume you're looking 4 a 5spd? Good luck...

no $h!t, 129+k is mucho mas...long story short, circumstances drove me to drive for a living, and the Max is my meal ticket; to really tell a story, it had less than 25k in the 1st 2 years, so over 100k in the last 2 years. No way to treat a refined lady!

btw, if you're ever in DC, you'll see it...
