how many of you need 4 doors?
how many of you need 4 doors?
I was curious since most people here are young. Since the Maxima is now over 30 grand (unbelievable for a Nissan given the hefty depreciation), I think if you can do it, get a 350 for 29-33. imho the Maxima was ahead of it's time from 1989 to 1995, where 190 HP was pretty darn good. Now you got everybody and their mama doing 220 hp, and for 30 grand you're getting 300 hp. 265 is like big whoop esp. with a FWD. Those of you who have a 4th or 5th, are you getting a 6th?
im still thinking about getting a 350z, even tho i like coupes and hatches, im going to need a 4 door again soon..i like the 6th gen, but not the price like mention above. Ill prolly get a wrx or something used. Not another fwd tho. Maybe a G35/c

I've seen 6th Gen Maximas for 28k here in MA.
probably gonna keep the Max forever...I dont use 4 doors on the Maxima
no seatbelts in the back anymore... if I have to move stuff I use the other carsmy next car= SC300 TT or a G35
but I am thinking about something with an M
You guys are wusses...
Moving on to a new(er) car?
What's that all about...pansies
I'd rather have my Max get better the OLDER it gets and just get a new car just to get one. My Max will surely be my 'main' car for a long time to come.
I dont much see it as when you're far enough along financially to afford a new car...I see it as when you're far enough along financially to do what you've only dreamed about doing previously to your EXISTING car.
And I dont need 4 doors...I HATE having a carfull of people

I always loved four doors... But its true, i never have more than 2 people in the car..
MOST OF THE TIMES, my rear seats are just folded down anyways to pass the music through..
Besides, 2 doors basically have the image of being sporty, while four doors are considered family car... But i love the fact that my family car can kick most 2 door hiney

i think i need 4drs, just cus there's more room..and i practically live my car...but i feel that later on i'll want a sporty car..Z or Gcoupe...i doubt it if i get a max again, but then again, i'm still kinda young so the Z and G are out of my league...for now
oh and i would also chose G35sedan over the new max

I love 4doors and the room, but i despise having more than 1 passenger... i'm about ready to just put a roll-cage through the back and remove seatbelts so i "cant" have passengers haha ..
people tell me, "you've got enough power, extra passengers shouldnt even matter" but I can tell a HUGE dif. with multiple passengers, GRR reasons I need moore power

actually i love the extra room, but i hate packing my car, but knowing its there is good. thats why i didnt get an eclipse gsx or something, i like back seats.
i hope to keep my max for a few years, and by the time i get my own place and nearing the end of college, i will be picking either......
2k2 6speed, or WRX. or if i find a little more money, i may pick up a g35 coupe. most likely a wrx, i only like the look of the 5th gens with a stillen kit.

damm, where are you at? I'm in North Carolina and a new 350 track is about 28-32k... Not sure about 2004 maximas but I saw a 2002 se for 15k at the dealership... I myself drive a 98 max 5speed, but when I get a different car I'm thinking something pimp, auto ,and fast enough. Maybe a 98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 litre.
I have a 2K1 and I would be fine driving a 1 seater. So if I can find a Mclaren in my price range
im goin 4 it. In reality I dont use my rear seats, or even my passenger seats more then 2-3 times a yr. My next ride will be a 2K3 6spd which I will hold onto for a while and will purchase another ride in my mid 20's (26 to be exact, insurance drops
, im 20 right now) That ride will definetly be a 2dr car with a rediculous amount of power and will be a weekend car.

i like the 4 doors cause i feel like i'm getting more car for my money.. plus packing a couple of extra girls in the back seat nice and cumfie back there makes it all the better.
i had a rustang and a gti and i hated the 2 door deal.

two doors are such a pain if you have friends that want to pile in. the leaning forward thing became annoying after a while so someone could squeeze into a small back seat. it's also a good place if you need to move stuff. i'd like z or something that size but the whole 4 door image doesn't bother me.
a big back seat has it's benefits.

Need the 4 doors....got two kids. Too bad I can't strap them to the rooftop of a 350Z
Good thing about a 4-door is the insurance is lower (typically) than 2-dr. Rates are starting to skyrocket around here
regardless of whether a person has a clean record/age/family/etc.

This thread really made me realize that I hardly ever use the backseats for people. When i travel i just toss my bags back there (since my speaker box fills most of the trunk). I still don't think i could own a 2 door unless it was a truck. I just don't fit in small cars. I hate riding in my fiance's 200sx.
ive owned 2 2-door coupes (eclipse GS Turbo, Probe GT) and i swore i would never own another 2door again, i hated the lack of space. Im only 17, but i dont think i would own another 2 door again, ill stick with 4doors...

The only new car I would buy right now is a 350z, but can't afford one at this time. I had an '86 300zx and that thing was a blast. 2 seater means you don't give as many people rides unless you want to. I love my '95 max and bought it because insurance was cheaper than a '91 300zx. Someday the 350z will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.
Being in High School and now College I use the 4 doors a lot since I often have a lot of people in my car and its so much easier to just get in and go then have to slide the seat up and all that. You also don't have to hear anyone complain when sitting 5 people in the car. I definitely notice a difference though with a full car load as opposed to just me driving but its not too bad. My next car a few years after college will probably be an M3 or 350Z because the performance makes up for the lack of space.

my back seat is filled up with **** anywayi dont mind the 4 doors, its different actually.. you got people mackin in their 2 doors but this car is still mackable iwth 4

next car depending on insurance/$: 5th gen 6sp, E36 M3, or 98+ Camaro Z28/SS 6sp
I still haven't gotten over my coupe lust since I bought my max....I very rarely have anyone in the backseat, and really prefer it that way (all those fsckers ever do is weigh me down, dirty up the interior, and worst of all, close the rear pass-thru for their own benefit rather than thinking about my stereo's trunk-to-cabin port first)
God forbid I ever get married and/or have children (I say that but after seeing close friends who I never hoped to have offspring spawn a shorty, anythings possible). But if that happens, I'll just start driving aggressively so the wifey won't allow them in my car

I like having four doors it allows me to take my friends and family along without having them twist their body into pretzel to get in and out. I owned a standard cab truck before the Max and REALLY APPRECIATE THE EXTRA SPACE. I will be buying a 350Z within the next 2-3 years because of the performance. It won't be my daily driver so I won't care about the space issue.
