Any car, or your car? RWD & FWD look a bit different, but are basically the same (even numbers one side, odd the other).

Thanks for answering that Kev. I must have thought he was thinking something else, or something (too much thinking today)...

No wonder I keep throwing codes for cylinder 5 misfire when I get into the boost hard.

Well, that's the thing, it shouldn't be lean. This was happening on a 3.33 pulley w/ the 8:1 FMU disc. Should run way rich. But I constantly threw left bank lean and cylinder 5 misfire codes. Well, it's about to go on the dyno to tune the fuel for the 2.87 and intercooler, so hopefully we'll figure it out there.

Be be VERY easy on the accelerator until you get on the dyno. You don't want to find out you've been boosting 12 psi on 38 PSI of fuel for 4 months.

Have you pulled the plug?

Oh, the car's not even running now. The blower's out while I get the 2.87 in. Then I drive very carefully to my friend's shop where the intercooler is being done, and he has a dyno there.

And Ice, the plugs look fine right now, but I really haven't driven it hard in a while. last summer, I had a major problem because the shop that installed the blower originally didn't install the power line to the Vortech pump well, and it came loose, so I had no Aux. fuel pump. That burned up some plugs before I found out. I thought I had messed up the engine, but the compression tests all checked fine.

Maybe a problem with the no. 5 injector?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr -

Okay, Alex and I went round and round about this too. I called the jakkoffs at my local Nissan shop and they said what the Hayne's manual says on 1-2, 2A-1, and 2B-1 and what the FSM for the 97 says on page EC-11, is correct. Which would mean:

_____Firewall
...... 1 3 5 < LEFT
....... 2 4 6 <RIGHT
___Front of car

Now, feeling confused about it, due to differing information in various posts on this site, I decided to do the basic test of seeing which cylinder is closest to the front of the car if it were mounted longitudinally. In that case, the left rear (from the front of the car looking in) cylinder would fit the bill.

It seems the 0210 code (left bank lean) is more common than the 0115 code (right bank lean) and that people generally seem to agree that cylinder 5 is the most prone to misfire/lean conditions. All of that seems to coincide with what I've posted above. My confusion comes from the fact that so many people here post differing thoughts on this. Seems like it should be pretty basic, but it doesn't play out that way.

Cheers,

JK

Joaquin... the configuration info is in the FSM. I think it's near the end of "Engine - Mechanical"

Start from the end and flip backwards.

this is the correct order of the cylinders per the FSM.

Hmmm, don't have the FSM with me here at work but if what you say
is true, it contradicts page EC-11 of the 97 FSM and the three pages
of the Hayne's manual so we're back to where we started. The basic check of forward most cylinder seems to confirm that 1,3,5 are near
the firewall and 2,4,6 are near the bumper. Maybe we should check revision information if the manuals have different information.

From page EM-68 in my '99 FSM. The front of the engine is where the belts are, thus the firewall is to the left.

Sorry for the blurry picture; my flash kept whiting out the page.

D'oh!

I apologize for giving out wrong information... there are too many things going on and too many things to worry about at this moment so I can't think straight.

I will correct my first post.

Hopefully the database is fixed so I can rest now.
