7500 mile service. What you do?

This is the list I got from my dealer for a 7500-mile service. The price is $104.95 plus tax. Wondering if I should do it or this is crap and I should just get the oil/filter changed and tires rotated.

Thanks.

Replace oil and filter
Rotate and balance tires
Inspect tire wear/adjust tire pressure, lighting, brakes, air filter, engine drive belts, radiator hoses, wipers and blah blah blah.
Check and top off brake fluid, coolant level, power steering fluid level and transmission fluid.

You can let them change the oil, I do that because they give me a ride to work and back and I have yet to pay for an oil change

DIscount tires will rotate your tires free and do the other stuff yourself. That price is a rip. It's for grannys who don't those things themselves.

Do you know how to maintain your car yourself? If so, you can save a lot. Just change your own engine oil and filter. Rotating your wheels should also be easy. Just move your rears to the front and your fronts to the rear. You shouldn't have to re-balance your wheels.

Everything else the dealer is going to do for that money is just inspect, inspect, inspect. WAY overpriced for what you get.

I'm a bit over 60K miles and haven't had the dealer do any maintenance work yet. I've done my own engine oil and filters, changed the air filters, drained and added transmission fluid, and rotated my tires myself at the proper times. I've constantly checked fluid levels. Next up will be spark plug changes.

My mechanic has done my rear brakes and I will soon get him new rotors and front brakes for him to put on. A coolant flush will be good too soon.

I replaced all my tires last year at Wheel Works which included balancing. I got a great deal on on wheel alignment afterwards at a Firestone dealer.

All relatively simple stuff that the dealer charges too much for. My car continues to run just fine after all this time. I love it.

The dealer charges waaay too much for the service. You can do all these things easily yourself. However, if you don't let them service your car they won't honor your factory warranty. That's the only reason why you have to let them service your car.

Only go to a dealer if the car is still warranted and everything is for free. If not warranted, the dealer prices will kill you!!!

So are you saying that if I change the air filter, it voids the warranty on the engine? They must have to have probable cause to void the warranty (like adding an intake that is aftermarket, for example). Even then, they have to prove that component caused the failure, I believe.

Not true...they have to prove that lack of regular maintenance caused the problem.
