cleaning a 96 engine

cleaning a 96 engine

did anyone clean it by themselves?
my friend told me to put some soap on the engine .then plush it with hot water

Cover anything sensitive like an open intake filter or exposed electrical connections.

Spray the warm engine down with Simple Green. Let it soak for about 5 minutes then hose it off.

Simple.

Cleaned mine yesterday

dang, i used some engine cleaner... I've never used an engine cleaner that rinses of well. So I got this smell in the engine compartment...
I've tried the simple green method but it's weak. I guess I just got a lotta dirt on mine. The engine cleaner made a bigger diff.

I didn't cover the alternator...started up with .5sec longer turn of the key.
