What BOV to buy?

I currently have a 4 year old BOV that sounds sick...(No Pshhhhht, but more of a flutter, like PthPthPthhhhhpt.)

Thinking aobut buying a new one.

2 questions:

1)Does a BOV on a SC'ed Max sound like a BOV? Is it a solid "Pssssshhhttt" or is that flutter expected for some reason? (5spd)

2)What BOV's fit the stock SC flange? what size is the inlet on the SC valve hole?

I'm currently looking at the HKS SSQ...anyone heard these? Will they fit on the stock flange?

I have an older style Blitz SuperSound right now.

Thanks!

Looks like the HKS SSD will be the best bet.

Anyone know if it will fit onto the flange the Blitz is on now, or will I have to re-weld another flange on there?

(stock SC flange, I believe)

Only the blitz will fit on the stock flange, any other type you'll need to have a flange welded over the stock flange. Make sure you get the steel flange and not the aluminum.

Hmmm.

So it just welds right on there? Any muffler shop can do this, I assume?

Anything else I'll need?

Thanks!

Even the newer Blitz BOV has the flutter sound.
I heard a turbo'ed Honda drive down my block and I wished mine sounded like that.

yeah any muffler shop can.... just make sure you have the flange welded on... and the gasket... which would come with the bov if new.

The shop I had weld on the flange actually welded flange to flange instead of just cutting off the old flange and welding the new one on.

So the HKS does NOT have the flutter sound?

(Just want to be sure we're on the same page)

I get the flutter sound a lil bit on my sc running 2.87". The sc blower doesn't put out as much as a turbo. Gotta love the sound of turbo though

Thanks for the link....

Very informative.

SO you like the HKS? This Blitz is 4 years old, and I'm scared it may be leaking a little.

Don't think you have a warrenty to worry about but...

Didn't I read that Vortech will void your blower warrenty if you use the HKS BOV because of it being "pressure fluctuation/change" activated?

I think the different BOV voids stillen's warranty, not vortech's.

Naw man - I owe it to you....

Thanks for the 3rd reminder.

I think I'll see Matt at the meet on Sunday. If I can find it, I'll give it to him to give to you.

(When are you coming down here again!?)

Love to come down again but not sure when that will happen. I've been painting the inside of my house for over a year now and the wifey set a new deadline for me!
So far I'm lucky enough to persuade the wifey for me to attend the Import Showoff show and she'll keep me company too!
Haven't seen your car since the meet couple of years ago. Got graphics on it like Matts? What did you do with your auto tranny since your 5 spd conversion? Sold it off? Was it still in good condition or did it implode on you? Just wondering...

Tranny had slipped a little after ebmorgan smacked the tranny pan against a manhole and drained it....then didn't refill it all the way after getting a new tranny pan.

But once I fixed that, the tranny seems fine....sold it to a NW Member for $200.

No graphics...except the "SuperCharged" sticker on the back, which is very subtle because it's a light silver on White. Had "Elite Motorspots" sitckers on there for awhile because they were an awesome shop...but they went out of business, so I took those off.

Car pretty much looks like this to this day:

I still love those rims! How's the grill holding up? Last time I saw Matt's it wasn't sitting snug. I may have to fix it up for him when I see him.

nah - I caught it in our alloted 5 minutes of sun per season.

Actually, the summers in Seattle are awesome...75-80, sunny every day, little humidity, and everything is green as hell........It's the other 9 months of the year that suck.

iansw, or anyone else,
where is the cheapest place to find the HKS? How much should I expect to pay. I have a SARD BOV now but I'm not happy with it. $85 shipped to anyone who wants it.
