I need my J-bolts to be shorter...

I tried to install my new battery tie-down today, but since the J-bolts are too long, I can't get a ratchet on to secure the bolts down. Do I need to change the J-bolts? I could've sworn that you're supposed to get '95-'99 J-bolts anyway (it says that if you're ordering for a 5th Gen), so I figured that I would be fine.

I think it also has something to do with the fact that my Optima battery is shorther than the OEM one. I'm wondering if I should put something underneath it?

Thanks,
-Nick

Just cut of the J hook part and rebend it to a J hook after making sure you have the right height needed to holddown your new shorter battery. That's what i did with my car.
