infinity speakers dont fit!!! help!!!

I have a '95 GLE, and I blew out my back speakers. I replaced them with Infinity Reference 6002i 6 1/2 inch oversized speakers (very nice if I do say so myself). The problem is that the back felt covering for these speakers has holes that are too small. The speaker covers need a bigger hole, so I'm currently driving around with no backseat and the speakers wide in the open. Is the only way to solve this problem making the current holes in the felt larger ,and then putting it on? I really do not want to do it, but it seems like the only solution. If ANYONE has any tips, advice, or solutions, PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!

If they are 6.75" or 6.5", they'll be fine... I'd worry more about them clearing the trunk rods. You could always trim the felt/cardboard under the 6X9" like grills.

I hope you didn't use the Infinity grills. The speakers mount below the grill directly to the metal. There should be more than enough space between the metal mounting surface and the hole of the grill...

Can you post a pic?

Then cut them out... the OEM grills are like 6X9", or get smaller speakers.
