Want to go NOS, please help! Nx Kit
$599 plus tax, $300 installed with 10Lb bottle filled. Nk Kit (Wet system)
Blow Down Tube Kit (For those hot hot days, you never know, small investment) $24 plus tax
Now, I have a serious itch, as this is a lot of HP (50 to 150) for a good price. Its also easy to hide for a 100% stock look, even with the hood up.
So what do you guys think of the above pricing? Also, how many miles should I put on the I30T before installing something like this?
Last, how safe would it be to run a 75HP shot, and is it true you need to engage it only after 3000RPM? I hear from a local shop that 75 is nothing to worry about on this engine. I would install steering wheel trigger switched behind the audio and cruse controls. This with a Y pipe should provide excellent strait line performance. Should net about 315HP
The issue would be fuel delivery and timing. Since you can't control the timing (unless you use a daughterboard to control the usable window), you can control the fuel. With wantingto add that much more HP, you will need to increase fuel flow. For this, the stock fuel pump would need to be replaced with higher volume (300TT works just fine, about $300 at Courtesy). This will guarantee the flow of fuel you have now. A shortage of fuel (under load) will suicide your engine.
Another route would be to use a NOS daughterboard system with an ECU upgrade. I doubt its available, but when I had mine made it wasn't available then either. This will allow your timing/fuel to compensate for the Nitrous (mixture has to be perfect). This set up will run about $1000-1500. You will also need to use larger injectors to pass the fuel to the cylinders (370cc injectors-Infinty Q45, about $120ea, you will of course need 6. You can also get these from Courtesy).
Detonation is the key, it only takes once to mess up good. Slowly tuning, step by step. A colder plug will also be needed to keep detonation down. I always use a 100+ octane fuel as well (usually about $3per gal at performance shops).
Or, you can start around a .032, and work to a .036 on the configuration you have now. This should get you started.

Single fogger wet systems are not a good idea on the maxima due to the shape of the intake plenum. You run the risk of unequal fuel/nitrous distribution and fuel puddeling. Fuel puddeling is especially bad because it can cause back fires in the intake plenum and blow up/off the air intake system, including the MAF sensor, $$$.
For 50-75hp stick with a dry set up like the Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) kit. Their are sevreral people who use it on their maximas who frequent this board. Its tried and true, so you have many people who you can ask questions about tuning it. You may need a fuel pump upgrade.
50-75hp is no problem for the maxima, I run the NOS dry kit at 100hp. I have modified it to support this power level. You may need a fuel pump upgrade.
I have e-mailed you the instructions for the NOS dry kit and a copy of some technical info. Pleae feel free to e-mail me if you need and other help.
As far as the blow down tube goes you really dont need it because the bottle is in the trunk. I would recomend a bottle heater so you bottle pressure stays constant.
Gas is GOOD!!!!

The NX would work great on the Honda/Acura crowd. Their intake manifold is pretty straight and short. For our V6, the NOS dry kit might be better. Less chance of fuel puddeling. Nobody really knows for sure because nobody has tried the NX wet kit on a maxima yet. You will get unequal distribution whether if you get NX wet kit or NOS dry kit. That's the flaw of a single nozzle system. The first four cyl. are going to suck up more nitrous. With NX kit, your intake is going to be really clean with all those fuel going thru it. Why don't just try the NX kit just to be different =) Since you are in TX, home of the NX. You will probably get pretty support from them. NOS is out in cali.

This kit has two lines that goes to the fogger. One is for NOS of course, and the other is for more gas. The gas line splices off the main fuel line. Would this help the fuel issue?
Its listed as a fit for Infiniti/nissan EFI, so I gues its made for our setup? The fogger would go into the rubber flex part right before the throttle body.
Let me know what you guys thing. The blow down tube would be incase the bottle tries to blow up on a hot day, or a bottle warmer left on.

You won't have a problem with fuel as long as your->
fuel pump can keep up the stock fuel pressure. That's the main difference between the NX (wet kit) and NOS (dry kit). NOS/dry kit increases fuel pressure and pumps more fuel via the stock injectors. NX (wet kit) maintain stock fuel pressure and pumps more fuel via the fuel nozzle jet that goes into the fogger.
There is no way to retard the timing on the Maxima yet, but as long as you keep under 100 shot and run colder plugs. You should be ok.
I say GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!

I would not use a single wet fogger on my Maxima. I thought about it and consulted several sources and was told the same thing about fuel pudeling in the intake runners causing destructive back fires.
The intake runers on 3rd gens may work with this set up, as will the intake runners on the 300ZX. The "L" shape of the runers on the 4th gen will cause problems.
The bottle has a built in saftey release disc it does not need the vent tube to function. All the vent tube does is vent the contents out of the vehicle. If the $25 makes you feel safer than go for it. The bottle should not reach high enough pressure in the trunk of a car to evacuate its contents. If it is left in direct sunlight, like in a hatch back, it could be a problem. As far as the bottle heater goes if you hook it up correctly and use it properly the bottle should never over pressureize. The NHRA does not require vent tubes for nitrous bottles in mounted in a trunk. They require them if you have a hatch back. I dont use one.

???
Thanks for the info on the tube. But for $25, you can't go wrong.
No one said if I should have more then say, 600 miles on my new car before I go nuke it
I am concerned about the piddling and am now more confused then before, thinking this setup would be good? Were did you get the NOS, and if you think its safer, I would consider it over NX. Jim Wolf sells a set, but at that price, I could must wait and get a Stillen SC.

Re: ???
When it comes to nitrous, there are going to be people that are loyal to their brand. You will have people that love their NX and there will be even more people love their NOS. You can get NOS first and later if you decide you want NX. NX sells a conversion kit that turns your dry kit into a wet kit.
But Matt is right, fuel puddeling is a problem and nobody really knows if the Maxima intake manifold has that problem.
