ACT Pressure Plate w/Stock Clutch Disk

I think someone in one of the "I blew my tranny" threads recommended this combo.

Would it work? Would the clutch still hold added (boost) power, and be a tad easier on the transmission, or is the pressure plate what could do the damage?

ACT Pressure plate will bang the OEM clutch disk just as hard as it bangs the ACT clutch disk. The OEM disk may fail or break apart do to the excessive force. (it wasn't designed for it)

I don't think you really want that to happen.

Of course not.

However, if people are concerned about blowing transmissions....blowing a clutch disc does sound nicer.

Keep this in mind when you change or upgrade your cltuch.

Clutches don't blow transmissions, the people who use them do.

You can distroy your 5 speed with an OEM clutch just as easily as you can with an ACT clutch. Just bang gears, power shift and dump the clutch a few times.

If your buying an ACT clutch so you can chirp 3rd gear, then you will probably blow your transmission.

If your buying an ACT clutch to put more power down through your transmission, then it will probably last a good long time.

Well, I am.

This thread wasn't really about what I'm going to do. A lot of people are blaming their ACT's for tranny problems. Someone mentioned this as a possiable solution, and it got me wondering.

So you can either be the guinea pig for a possible solution to tranny problems, or be like the rest of us with ACTs By the numbers, I think there have been relatively few tranny problems compared to the number of users running ACTs.

I'm going to use the ACT disc, as I'm installing it for the ability to hold more power.

For the NA guys I though this may do something. What do I know though!

You don't want to use a oem disc on the ACT pressure plate. For starters the clamping force comes from the PP. Plus even though ACT uses oem discs for their street application, I "think" they modify the disc springs for more severe use. If one of the springs comes out of the oem unmodified disc, you will ruin your disc/pp/to bearing and maybe mangle whatever flywheel your are using. If you just spent $350+ on an Aluminum unit, that would **** me off to no end.

If you want a more gentle clutch kit, go oem or maybe excedy. Or mabye cluthmasters have an application

highly agree with him, You can still break a tranny with a stock clutch, go out rev up the engine and dump away and see what will happen chirp and clak clannnnnnn!
