Heavy 18" rims or Lighter 19" rims?

I have a 2000 maxima with single piece 18" rims that easily weigh 30+ pounds per rim. I want to know whether or not to keep my heavy 18's, or sell them and get the 3 piece 19" Racing Hart CR rims that weigh less than my 18's and are much better quality? Do you think the 19's would negatively affect the way my car performs? (slow it down, ruin handling, etc.)

Volk TE37 is probably the lightest 19 inch out there. It is going to weigh in at 19-20 lbs depending on width.

I'd go with the lighter rim! You will have to run a lower profile so ride quality may decrease.

19s will look much better IMO. The weight loss should help make up for the diameter as well. Especially with lower profile tires.

I would think performance would increase in every possible aspect... with the lower profile tire, handling should improve, and lighter wheels = faster acceleration (as long as you hook up). Go for it IMO.

Lighter 19" rims will cost you some $$$. I hope you're ready to pay for them.

Actually I have a stupid physics question, forget about tires for a second, what would be faster? 18" rims or 19, both weighing the same?

The 18" rim would be faster. Less rotational mass, less "wheel" to rotate.

Centerline rims are neat and stuff if you want your car to look like a bicycle. 18x7 and 19x7.5 ruins it all IMO.

Cant really go with that Rim since its a 19x7.5" In my opinion that is a very small width for a 19. Most 19s are at least 8" wide. I dont even know what tire will clear on a 19x7.5" well. A 245/35/19 definetely wont clear.

Hmm. These were the rims I planned on getting, but I wasnt too sure about the 7.5" width on them. I may need to pick a different wheel...

Being lighter, they will be more susceptible to damage from pot holes and curb bashings...

Jeezus, I can't spell worth a damn today

Yep, the farther the weight from the center of the wheel the harder it is to rotate. I like the centerline wheelz, its hard to beat 15lbs for a 19"!!! but the tires are crazy expensive. Thats one reason why old cars do crazy burnouts with 15"ers
