Mustang GT's now bow down!

I've been waiting for this moment for a year now... stoplight race with a Mustang GT Bullit! fnally happened tonight tho. two kids in the 'stang, me and my buddy in my 2k2 Max. we both had a roll of like 2 mph when the light turned green. from then on it was almost dead even, but i gained about 3 feet on him up to 75 or so, when we hit another light. then they wouldn't look over at me... wanted to say nice race, cause it was, but i think the kid as embarrassd. oh well, it was so sweet. oh the stang was a 5 speed too, could see the kid shiftin and all. i love my automagic! Family sedans all the way!

I would say good job, but beside street racing being a no-no...sorry...it was a lack of driver experience, not a better car here.

There is no way an auto 2k2 could take a stick Bullit by 3 car lenghts to 75 or so. Way more torque, 260+ hp, and RWD.

Enjoy your 'kill' but the car would have been better matched if someone else was behind the wheel.

You mean things like the 'thrill' of Germany invading Belgium in the WWII era? The thrill of the US in Grenada? Etc., Etc., Etc.?

The thrill is there if you are evenly matched (driver and car)...and by the way on the track.

The bullit has what, 305hp/320tq?

Bottom line: His CAR is significantly faster. Good kill though, maybe he granny shifted like a mother or missed a gear.

Definitely sounds like the kid didn't know how to launch the car.. RWD and that much torque should own you from the line considering your auto and he's stick..

Big Deal... it was a legit kill, and I like it!

HA HA!

Next time look at him and say "Hey... hey man... that's your momma's car, right?"

or even better... hold up a sign that says "You've been OWN3D by a Maxima!"

yeah maybe a GT would be a fair race, but this was not a run of the mill GT. As others are mentioning a BULLIT in most circumstances, would hand a 2k2 auto, or even 6spd its a$$.

I agree that the kid probly couldnt shift that good... but he hit the shifts, no doubt about it. at the track, he might have pulled a lil, but hey i got him last night and it made my night and ya i only gained about 3 FEET, rather than lengths. i wish i coulda gained 3 lengths....

Bullitt's are only 265 horses in 2002--only 5 more than the regular GT. I've beat 3 newer GT 5 speeds (stock I'm assuming) myself (when I was stock.) Close races, but I won. So I think it's entirely possible.

Maybe they "can't drive" if they are missing gears, but it doesn't sound to me like this was the case here. The cars run comparably.

Nice kill!

A kill is a kill. If you win, you win. Of course most are correct here, a Bullit would take care of a Max. Even a 99 up GT with the right driver should take care of a Max as well.

I think this shows how much difference the driver makes in a race...

I raced a Bullit last year from about a 5mph roll and it was dead even up to 90 mph. The other guy was alone and my screaming wife was in the car with me. No need to call BS on this one at all.
It seems some people have confused Cobra with Bullit.

ever since the bullit edition came out, most of the late model GT owners around NYC have upgraded to those rims, so coulda been a regular GT

I agree. My friend had a regular GT w/ x-pipe, (no cats) S-AFC, bullit intake manifold, UDP... STock he ran 13.7 ish. (he's a good driver too) I raced him w/ only intake/exhaust on the freeway a while back although he punched it 1st both times, I pulled on him around 110 ish but by 120 ish, got about 1-3 cars on him. My friend w/ his Z got the same results at about the same mods.

Good kill anyways.

he won the drivers race. he was the better driver so he won. obviously the mustang should have beat him but he drove better than the other guy, so he wins. your car is only as good as you drive it.

I have a similar kill story but it involved a 5sp GT, not Bullit. I doubt I could take out a well driven/raced Bullit, with my Max. If I had a 6sp Max, I'd probably have a better chance.

Anyway, a kill is a kill!!! Good kill bro!!

No need to theorize, some of those mustang drivers are a little cocky, not all, but most... i beat a GT before... with my auto.. it was a 98... I like the mustangs, but only because its a sports car... they suck, you would think with a v8, they would produce more power than our v6s... thats why while all the japanese have 240+ horses, american cars have to play the catchup game in tech and quality... I love the Trans AM Ws6, but whats the point when itll be more in the shop than in my garage? A kill is a kill even if the drivers suck.... its not like the v8s that kill 4 cyl say... "oh, it was a 4cyl auto civic"... no they laugh and have fun.. and move on to a toyota prius.... oops, thats me... j/k. but you get the idea..
Although i think racing is dangerous, i have done it... and dont promote it. Nice kill!

I ran a 5 speed Gt on the highway and wasnt able to reel him in in my 02 6-speed, I think they have a faster car with drivers being equal.

You could give me a regular GT and I would hand all you Stang haters your **** ! The torque in the Stangs is so much that you have to know how to launch it to harness the best possible traction out the hole. My old 89 5.o LX would hand all the 2k2 's on this forum their **** , and it was NA ! I know a lot of you are biased towards V8's like most V8 guys think we are ricers, but lok at the numbers. Dyno any new GT and you will see the kind of numbers they put to the wheels. My brother also beat a 95 Cobra at an eight mile track with his auto 2k2 , but that didnt mean jack shiznit, because the moron in the Cobra didnt know how to drive .

Bullitt is a JOKE!!! Guys it's all show and NO MORE go than a GT. A whole 5hp/3tq, WOW! Bullitt=14.07@97.9mph '99 GT=14.07@100.2mph in one mag test. The '99 GT was actually faster due to being broke in.

Now the SC'd Cobra.

The title of this thread is pretty inaccurate.. Well driven, that car has like .8 seconds on you in the 1/4 mile, maybe even more.

Yeah, it's nothing more than looks, and the 5 HP is pretty much debatable. It's still pretty darn fast for a relatively inexpensive V8 pony car. If someone wants to host a video I have of my buddy in his dead stock '00 GT T5, I'll send them the video via email. He ran 13.82 in the 1/4...still had the stock Goodyears on it.
