Who is using 3000GT rotors with their 300ZX calipers?
Who is using 3000GT rotors with their 300ZX calipers?
I am planning on fabricating a bracket so that I may run the 12.x" 3000GT rotors with my 300ZX calipers for use under my 17" wheels. I will remove the bracket so that I may run my 15" wheels in the winter and at the drag strip. Just curious what members are running this setup.
I'll give a link for someone who used the same idea for Mustang Cobra 12.xx rotors on a Z. Might be cheaper as the 3000gt sport rotor use a hat/rotor combo vs the Cobra 12.xx rotors are just one piece. Should be cheaper. The bracket looked alot simpler also.

Hey man, nice cardomain site...sorry to hear about the deer accident..I trust you weren't injured? How much hard running/racing were you doing to crack your slotted rotors? I've never heard of that happening before except to drilled rotors. Do you think they weren't slotted properly or what? Last and not least...what other than calipers and rotors are needed to convert to 300ZX front brakes? Thanks in advance!
Jeff, care to share the link? I didn't know that 3000GT rotors were 2 piece, I was actually looking for 2 piece rotors to save a little unsprung weight but if they are Über-expensive I will just go with some 1 piece rotors. I'll look in to both possibilities.
Carnal-thanks I'll PM them.
srbarnes-as far as parts nothing more really, 300ZX lines are a good idea but not required. You'll need spacers most likely unless you have a set of low offset wheels. Along with spacers you'll probably need new lug studs that are long enough to accomodate said spacers.

It's real simple instructions but at least it shows the bracket. The bracket is just a flat piece of metal. But I believe the key is the thickness of the metal used for the bracket. It's what provides the proper spacing to fit the caliper on the rotor correctly.
I believe the Mitsu brackets are more complicated. I saw some examples of the Mitsu kit on tt.net but I can't confirm if they use 2 piece units or not. I just remember them being that way. Plus the Mitsu kit brackets won't fit. You would have to shave the Mitsu rotor anyway(xxMM) just like a normal rotor.
Also I don't remember if there were offset problems with the Mitsu kit or not.
