My '03 auto vs Buddies GS400!!!....what we wanted to know!

I finally broke 1000 miles and wanted to know how my new Max would hold up against my buddies GS400. I already know my '01 gets killed badly! So it is time to compare the new one. The GS400 has a SRT ECU piggyback and SRT intake.

1st race about a quarter mile long. Back road nobody on it but us. He calls it and we are off, this time I leave it in "D". I pull about a half car on him immediately and hold it there till about 90mph and run out of road.

2nd race I pull almost a car off the line and hold it till about 90mph and he starts to catch up and pull me. If we went past 100mph I would have been walked on badly. BTW manually shifted.

3rd race I spin badly his fender to my rear door till about 85mph then he starts to pull me and we shut down 90ish.

Basicly I held him off everytime till about 85-90mph! I would get a better jump for sure! I had a feeling the max would pull off the line and it did. The cars were dead even till about 85-90ish where he would pull.

I have one thing to say, the '02+ Maxima is one Bad @ss machine!!! Now I need to get a 6 speed G35 to replace my '01 Maxima, it is just so slow

or maybe......SC time!

This is very interesting. Anyone else tried 2k2/2k3 against GS400/430?

PCGuRu2K and NT2SBBY, we have a pm feature on this board Thanks for your original input though.

PCGuRu2K, Would you recommend the SC for a daily driven car used 3,000 miles a month? How are you liking it?

Mines is a daily driver.. I pack on 75miles /day... It's definitely worth it cuz you'll have much more power to play with. Just don't boost all day every day and you'll be fine...

I've gone through 2 trannies since I had the blower

the GS400 is rated at a high 5 second to about 6 flat 0-60... with a good driver, it should take down the auto 2k2's... again, it comes down to the driver with cars of similar performance (see thread about mustang GT)

the gs400 looks nice but thats about it

it feels slow and rides like a freaking boat(typical Toyota) it is way overpriced. My friend was shopping around and ended up with a 540i for the same price(now that's a beast)

they gave him what appears to be a standard bmw maintenance deal free of charge. that means he gets free maintenance on the car until his warranty is up at 100k(extended) which is nice

What cars have you actually raced? Which ones were close and which ones did you get beaten by? (few details too)

Did you friend get the 6-spd. 540i? Cause I heard the GS430 pretty much pulls a 540i automatic. GS430 in my opinion strikes the right compromise with comfort, smoothness, stereo performance, ergonomics, acceleration/braking, handling, reliability (1st in 2003 J.D. Power Initial Quality for its class and a strong performer in the long-term dependability), excellent dealer service (used to work at a Lexus dealer).

Come on now. You aren't getting beat that many cars are you? Any runs with Vettes, 911's etc... tell us some of the worthy ones wins and losses.

Yeah it is definetly a quick car. I came from 2000 SE 5-speed and that car wasn't even close to this one. All that torque available almost everywhere in 2002.

If only rear suspension was different, this car would rock even more.

i dont know man, don't they do 0-60 in the high fives and quarter mile in the very low 14's? seeing a few in action, i would put my money on the GS over a 2k2 auto any day...against a 6 speed, i personally think the lexus would win more often than not.

The GS will get that with a properly prepped track. anything else will cause the GS to spin it's one legged tire all the way down the track netting a 15 second run. I will tell you that since the GS started to gain at 85+mph I would still feel comfortable in the 1/4 with him, he would have to gain back that car length I got off the start.

yeah, but won't a 2k2 6spd need a properly prepped track to run low 14s as well? i still don't see how one is definitively faster than the other. have you ran or seen any other GS4's run? i'm not trying to flame at all, just in my experience, i've seen what they're capable of.

Agreed a 2k2+ auto or manual compared to its older counterparts in comparably trannies are night and day. The 2k2+ just pulls in any gear either auto or manual unlike the 01 and olders.
