GD: HID hi/low kits
GD: HID hi/low kits
Ok guys i set up a group deal for HID hi/low kits.
The company is called Pacific micro-lite, formerly pheonix micro-lite. This is the company i bought my Phlips HID kit from about 3.5 years ago. Very high quality kits. Few of the NSX guys have been using HID retro fit kits from this company with very good reviews.
They have the phillips HID kits as well as the hi/low kits. The guy specified i needed year and model of each car because they modify each buld to work with the car.
These hi/low kits run of off wattage not with a moving shield or movings pieces. It boosts the wattage of the bulbs for a brighther look.
Current pricing for the hi/low HID kit is $630 shipped.
if i can get 10 or more people the price will go down to $600 shipped.
If there are any questions just e-mail me or post.
People you are paying for quality.
I have seen other HID kits and i have seen some off the problems which may occur. Lights turning on and off while driving. igniters failing. The hi/low kits are made from german ballasts. These are of very good quality.
Let me know if your interested.

I'm curious, I remember there was a thread about HID hi/low kits a while back and the person who tested (bought, whatever) could only run the kit at high or low depending on the way it was wired. ie. He could not flick the headlight stalk forward to make them run at the higher wattage. Are we (4th gen guys with 9004) going to be able to toggle between the two different wattages by doing nothing more than moving the headlight stalk forward? I'm sure this would be the deciding factor for a lot of people, possibly myself if the deal runs long enough.
i will ask tomorrow if you can flick it back and forth. i will also talk to the guy and see if i can get some shots of the kit test fitted to my car.
chung: the guy said to make sure i i mentioned year and make of the car and he would customize the kit accordingly.
they wen through two different sets with me. the first one the beam pattern was way out of control because the retro fit harness was aimed wrong.
anymore questions?????? so i can knock down a set of questions all at once.

ok you do go from high to low with flicking the accual stock. ill be setting up a time on wednesday to go down there to take a few pictures of the kit.
the wattage increase will make the lights brighter.
i there was a little confucion when i first spoke to him.
this is an correction to the first post.
this kit does consist of a ballast and igniter unit. i had it confused with the phillips ballast. my apologies he did reaffirm these were german made ballast and are off excellent quality.
ill try to get the pics up asap. check on thursday for pictures.

ok here is what happened.
the guy thought i was just taking a few pictures off the accual ballast.
he would not let me take a picture off them on. he said he does not have a demo set. so group deal still stands.
yellowtail e-mail me. with your information.

haha...anything higher will be illegal...
Does the kit include an auto-balance mechanism? If not, it's illegal
That asside, yeah, I was the one who tested out the last hi/lo kit in my 97 and 2k max. I dunno how they are pulling this off, but I'd like to see the instructions before buying. If they are the same as what I had, it's not gonna work (basically, 1 hi, 1 lo, 1 ground) easily. With the magic of some diodes and relays, it can work.
What is the wattage of the hi/lo? Mine were 35/50. What's the warranty on the bulbs? On everything else?
$600 is higher than the price of my kit...I hope yours works out the kinks and stands behind it's products. I'm waiting to see what they're like.

It'd be pretty much amazing if the high beam was flickable and bumped the wattage up to 50. ThurzNite, I think in your old thread you mentioned that the kit in wired at 50w gave off something like 5000 lumens? If this kit that is being sold in this GD is similar, once we get some pictures and feedback from someone who installed it I could see it becoming very popular.
hmmmm jae what company did your hi/lows come from.
cause from what i am hearing from the guy it is essiencially the same concept. low 35/55watt hi.
was the relay wired right. cause what is making this thing hard is the guy does not have a demo set available for what ever reason. and he does not want to use a set of new ballast and bulbs for testing. which i think is dumb. he does state that it is flickable. i am currently running a HID retro fit kit from this company and i am beyond satified with it.
hmmmmmmmmmmm the earliest i can make it out there to look at the accual kit and how its wired would be next week. i am currently training this week at another store and i have group presentations for class wed and thurs. i will keep everyone updated.

This's ThurzNite on another computer.
My kit was from http://www.supremepowerparts.com/. I think my contact was "Kevin" who was a cool guy and very understanding. The kit was not intended for "flicking". I think it was made to run at 35 or 55, but not flickable. Think of it this way...how long's it take to fire up an HID bulb? A few sec. If you "flick" aren't you likely to damage something if the bulb doesn't fire up all the way?
One more thing. Before test fitting anything, get a volt-meter and check out how your stock harness is wired up. Find out which's positive and which's ground in lowbeam, then do the same for high beam. I'm wondering if all maximas are as funky as my 2k and 97 (which would mean some fancy relay/diode work is needed).
