No it is not a very bad deal but be patient and wait until you get the money for shocks and get springs and shocks installed all at one time it will save you time and money.....I know beacuse I did it and now have to buy new struts I have temporary stock "hydrolic" shocks(bouncy)...just my advice to you..........and since you have an "older" Maxima I'm sure your stock shocks are worn down and they most definatly WILL NOT handle well with drop springs.......

Yep, wait until you get the shocks in and get the whole thing installed at once. You will be paying for double the labor if you get the springs and shocks installed separately. Installation is usually around $50 per corner. Since the suspension components themselves are like $450 ($200 for springs, $250 for Toks from carparts.com), why pay $400 for install when you can wait a little bit and save $200?

Think about it. If you shop around you might be able to get yourself an FSTB and RSB for $200 total.

replt to spring install..

i put eibachs on my stock 98 se struts/shocks. they only had 10k miles on them. now they have 36k miles and they aren't totally worn out yet. alot of highway miles. i am going to change them here soon though. i think the rule of thumb is, if you have 30k or more miles on your strut/shocks you should replace them, when you put your new springs on. you don't want to have to change them soon after putting your springs on. plus the high performance struts/shocks will be a better combination then stock struts/shocks. and i agree with what the other guys said about doing it together to save on labor. you won't be able to adjust camber without the camber plates also. so the top of your tires will be leaning in. i think this will cause the inside tread to wear more than the rest of the tread surface. have a good one.
