That freakin' skyline is a hot hot car. I just got a good look at it from a preview pic...

Hot Skyline

I would give just about anything to get my hands on that baby...

**** it, I'd take the car. Remove the neon, put the factory wing back on, maybe repaint it, or peal off the vinyle details.

Although, knowing how movies work, it's probably not even a GT-R!

Am I the only one...

Who thinks the Skyline is ugly as sin? Outside the power of it, I really don't like the body. Looks too much like the old 240 / Honda Prelude.

The only thing I like about that pic is the neon!

It is a GTR, SCC mag did an article over it. Its a full GTR w/ no additional mod. Only mod they did was to take off the front driveshaft in order for the GTR to drift. A bone stock skyline w/ the front differentials and front driveshaft taken off ?? I'd rather buy a stock skyline that has the 4WD system under it.

Besides that, its all movie magic.

Skylines IMO are beautiful. They have that muscular stance, it just looks tough. Of course that ricer paint job sux. I always wondered why the Skyline was never imported to the US. Is it a Japanese pride thing? Because I know the Skyline is their version of the Mustang or Corvette.

Skyline was never imported here because of the emissions. Something about it being too high. Read it somewhere a while back. I would take a STI over a skyline :-). Better yet, give me a porsche GT3. I would take that anyday.

Yeah, I remember reading something like that also, but I know they could have tweeked it to conform to restrictions but of course it wouldn't be a true Skyline then. But I still wouldn't mind having one even with a little less horsepower.

...I just think it has a tough look, it is sleek without being wimpy, race-ready without looking ricey... It definitly is the Jap Mustang and it has a better more original look in my opinion. Although I admit, exclusivity is appealing too since there aren't a lot over here.

I honestly didn't think someone could rice out a skyline, but wtf, with all those exterior mods, that engine stock really can't back them up. Could they have at least gotten a boost controller or something, sigh.

I heard all sorts of things about the intentions to bring the Skyline to the States. Just keep your fingers crossed because today, the auto industry is so freaking cut-throat that they're doing anything to gain the edge in image, volume, profits or all of the above.

Um, it's already happened. motectransam, meet the Nissan Skyline V35, aka Infiniti G35. Now we are just waiting for the GT-R version. But I heard they were gonna call it a G35 R-Spec, and drop the GT-R badge????? How can they do that, that's nutz! We'll see.

(oh I forgot to mention the GT-R prototype was a left hand drive )

In Japan the 350z and G35 is called the Skyline coupe and sedan but they havent made the GT-R series yet.

It would be awesome if they put the Q45 V8 and some turbos in it the new GTR ...but the VQ35 and some turbos would be kool too

Good call. I'm aware of the platform sharing. I should've said GT-R Skyline.

Correction, the 350Z is the Fairlady Z. The G35 coupe and sedan are the Skyline coupe and sedan.

BTW, I'm going tonight to see for myself just how crappy this movie really is. I'll let you all know what I think.

...If they do anything it will be a VQ35DETT not a V8, the heart and soul of the Skyline (now G35) has always been a 6cyl. Plus they can get PLENTY of kick outta VQ3.5L w/ twin turbos and save the added weight of the V8...

What are the projected figures on a twin turbo 3.5 L VQ??? 420+whp possible???

I have seen different projects with the VQ30,VQ35 and the Q45 engine...most likely the Vq35 with some turbos.....i wouldnt be suprised if it was around 500hp, it will break the >280hp mark japan has most of their sports cars....

O and it better be AWD!!!Thats what a Skyline is all about!!!

motortrend a few months featured a company in ca. that supposedly was given permission to import them.Funny thing is they were all used and still had a hefty high $30k for like a 97.Didn't hear much more of that.BTW I have been a motor trend subscriber since 97

I cannot stand what craig lieberman has done to the beautiful skyline, he's the biggest ricer of them all...but then again if the cars were all plain and not "tricked out" then this movie wouldn't be a comedy.

Even those Skylines are riced out with bookshelf wings and body kits.

But anyways, I saw the movie, and aside from being a DSM commercial, it wasn't all that bad. In fact, it impressed me how good it was. My buddy and I wrote a review. I actually really liked the GT-R in it. It changed my opinion of neon.

(oh and FYI, they do pay their respects to american muscle when Walker admits that his Evo and Tyrese's Eclipse won't be able to beat a Charger and an old Mustang)

I have a very very strong feeling that they lied about those specs on that skyline. To get 1100hp out of that car, it costs a ton of money, now I'm not saying that the movie didn't have a huge budget, but honestly, there's no way. You really only build an 1100 hp skyline if you intend to race it competativly, thats a show car, the closest thing to a race track that car will ever drive on, is a closed movie set. IMO, The chances of that car having 1100hp is about as good as the maxima in the first one running 10s. Unless you were being sarcastic of course, then I just wasted a lot of typing.

Skyline GT-R was never sold here cause of price and image. The old 300ZX was a 40k car and NO ONE was buying it. A GT-R would have been at least 60k. Prices kept going up as well. Nissan figured it would be too expensive.

Also, they did some research on the Acura/Honda NSX and found that the market is not too fond of 60-90k Japanese sports cars. People cannot justify spending that much on a Honda or Nissan.

So they said no. Damn shame, the R32, R-33 and R-34 GT-Rs are some of my favorite autos. Amazing cars that can take gross abuse. Can be modded with a wrench and some gum.

The G35 is the Skyline but no GT-R. Carlos Ghosen and co. promises the R-35 will be a global car. Though, with their cost cutting, I am afraid it might not be worthy of the GT-R name.

We'll see.

The paint jobs are for the movie. It's a movie, get over it.
